So I'm in an inaugural draft in a Sim League and pick 5th out of 30. I assume Seguin/Tavares/Stamkos will be gone. Who do I pick after those guys to anchor my franchise? Preferably would like to compete this season.
If it is the Simon T then pick Carey Price (or whoever the best goalie is). In my league using the Simon T simulator, the team with the highest ranked goaltender has won the playoff championships for the last 8 years. In most cases, the teams they have beat in the finals have been better teams but for whatever reason, the team with the best goalie always seems to win.
I also think a goalie is more important than any player in those types of leagues since your goalie plays the whole game while the best forward usually plays only 1/3 of every game.
Goalies are important but they usually don't go until round 3 so I'd like to pick up an elite Center first. This is my 4th draft but I've never picked this high.
