Default Frederik Andersen to Toronto for JVR

Reimer is still dealing with an injury and I don't trust Bernier or Reimer as a Number One...Why not trade JVR for Frederik Andersen?
Toronto finally gets a bonified number one goalie and Getzlaf/Perry get the missing piece to that line. Win/Win.

Well with all the Leafs fans on here now you've gone and started the rumour mill lol.

All kidding aside, would be quite the win win it would appear but I don't think the Leafs want to compete yet....they want a high pick.

The leafs would deal one of if not their best winger to have three goalies?

    Will never happen.

The leafs are a few years away from competing they don't need a #1 goalie right now infact they would be worse off with one because they would get a worse draft pick.

More chips would need to be in play for this to happen I think.

Plus the second Andersen does poorly for 5 games Leafs fans will turn on him as fast as they did to Riemer for the two previous seasons or Bernier for this season.

goaltending isn't the issue in Toronto. you could put almost any goalie in net and we would still suck.

need to keep drafting F/D, stick to the gameplan.

Ditto what everyone else said... the goal is not to be more competitive today... it's to be more competitive in 4-5 years. We need to hold onto young guys like JVR while stockpiling more draft picks.

Let's be fair Reimer has always shown, when having the gig, that he can run with it so based on how he has played this year it makes no sense in my opinion

They already have two goalies in Reimer and Bernier and they don't really need a starting goalie if they want to collect high picks for the next few years

If the plan was to be competitive now, and they didn’t have 2 goalies already, it makes sense for a deal to be based around those 2 guys.

But, I’m not parting with JvR unless I’m getting a young top end prospect + picks. With JvRs contract, he’s arguably more valuable than Kessel right now, and Toronto got Kapanen, Harrington, and a conditional 1st, and that was for a player who was known around the league as a “buy-low” at the time. For JvR it has to be a top 10 prospect, a 1st (guaranteed), and another prospect.

Maybe it's been said already, but JVR is too valuable an asset to send to the Ducks when they're looking at a goalie logjam already.

That makes no sense when you have 2 quality goalies already and are short up front. They should be trading a goalie for a forward.

The issue with Reimer is staying healthy, he gets the job, does well and then gets hurt. That lets Bernier take the job back. Luckily, Bernier is no great shakes so Reimer will always get another chance.

However, I think TOR is ahead of schedule and, if neither of these guys steps up and grabs the job, could very well acquire an outside option.
