Honestly, I'm not even sure he'd be better than Schultz. He's pretty terrible. He would be different, though, so there's that.

Ok, so by this point can we say that the Sens won the Turris/Rundblad swap?

(crosses fingers and hopes for TM/Turris is a bust appearance)

There's already another thread on him. I have some doubts that someone claims him, and even if it happens, I don't see him making an impact that makes him relevant, even in deep leagues.

Remember that although the Turris <--> Runblad deal looks great, they traded Vlad the Impaler for Runblad at the draft so it's essentially Turris <--> Tarasenko. Despite the fact that Tarasenko is tearing it up, Turris is a number 1 C who plays well defensively, so it's close (but Vlad T side wins).

That's what you get when you trade draft picks though. Who would have guessed that a high teens pick would turn into a superstar? 15 other teams passed on Vlad too!

And who's to say by keeping the pick they would even have drafted Tarasenko....

It’s nice to involve the draft pick in the trades like you did, but that’s not a fair judgement. The NHL teams and personal growth of a player are really different so even if the Sens drafted Tarasenko, who knows if he would have done well.

Essentially I just see it as a saving grace trade. Just like Luke Schenn for JvR. I don’t consider the Leafs drafting JvR, it was just a saving grace move. Sens got burned on the first trade, but saved it on the second.

Sens could have drafted Joey Hishon, Watson, Bjugstad, Bennett, Sheahan, Tinordi, Pysyk, K.Hayes, Howden, Kuznetsov, Visentin, Coyle, Etem, or Nelson. I can see the Sens drafting Tiinordi, or Hishon with that pick, and they aren’t any better than Runblad.

    Faulk – 37
    Toffoli – 47
    Gudas – 66
    Klingberg – 131
    Mrazek – 141
    Gallagher – 147
    Stone – 178
Andersen – 187 (didn’t sign with the Canes)
All in the 2010 draft. It’s fun to say what if’s about drafts, but you really can’t say it that simple. Jamie Benn was a 3rd round pick in his draft.

I am not surprised. Says a lot about what other teams/GMs think about him and his abilities considering there are teams out there crying for help on the blueline.

The 2nd year of the contract had to have been the kicker.
