I think you're stretching it a bit at this point. While Kahkonen looked good, they still had a goalie that let in 3 in 10 and looked really iffy.

Most of their advantage came from that top line and having a lethal powerplay, while Canada took many dumb penalties and had an iffy defensive squad.

But to say they had better goaltending, to me, is a stretch. Coaching is not easily determinable in a game like this one.

Those 3 Canadian goals were all solid. Blackwood let in 6....so were weak, some were poor rebound control, and almost all were stoppable. Finland had an edge in goal today, IMO.

Canada never has a great goalie. Last year's team was dominant and had true captains

I wouldn't blame it all on Blackwood, I'd say 3 of the 6 he gave up were stoppable. But his team in front of him played poorly, and took dumb penalties all day. I already went in a rant about virtanen early, but let's not forget the really dumb one marner took. Very undisciplined.

The Marner penalty was dumb but at least he scored two today to at least keep them in the game. Virtanen was just a disaster.

Maybe, but when you look at the early 2, one of them is the D whiffing on a play, giving the Finns a great scoring chance, and then another is the D losing his footing letting the Fin with speed dash into the zone undefended with time, and another guy tailing him. Those are prime scoring chances that the defence pair basically gifted Finland (whether intentional or not). The goalie is just the last line of defence on those plays.

The fact that Lowry kept Blackwood in the whole game says a lot about Lowry's faith (or lack there of) in Mason McDonald. Blackwood was fighting the puck the whole game.
