Not surprising as I'm sure plenty of GMs would be after him but I'm dubious Columbus would move him

Wrong Johansson. Johansen plays in Columbus. The Johansson in the column plays for Washington. That's who teams are calling about.

Perhaps they think if they can free Johansson from the Caps he will pull a Mathieu Perrault 2.0 for them.

I'm dubious of that. Johansson is already a top PP unit guy for Washington. Can't imagine a better situation for him.

Yeah I think he's had some wicked opportunity in WSH and failed to be a fantasy stud. Maybe a trade would be a kick in the pants for him but I don't think his upside is all that great. 2nd/3rd line tweener.

He's a good support winger but that's pretty much it. I'm not sure what other teams would see in him other than simply wanting to beef up the secondary scoring.

I agree with you guys, support winger at best, but at 25 yrs old with RFA status next year, definitely someone is gonna ask about him.

I think whats even more interesting from that clip from Friedman is that Robin Lehner came into camp weighing 255 lbs, 5 lbs less than Big Buff is listed at!

Meh, solid deadline acquisition I guess. Or put him in a package to up something else for the Caps. Or swap him for a couple of PK guys if needed.

    According to the NHL website:
    Buff is 6’5” 260lbs
    Lehner is 6’4” 240lbs

RW: Pavelski (C), Giroux (C), Svechnikov (LW)
D: Fox, Makar, Bouchard, Morrissey, Gudas

I would love to see him in Detroit!

Guess he figured it was easier to cover the net by filling it up rather than moving...

Some players do better once they're looked upon more as a "the guy" type player than they do when surrounded by talent. But I happen to think Johansson falls more into the category of likely chronic underachiever no matter where he'd play or under whatever circumstances.
