Default RIP - Scott Weiland of Stone Temple Pilots

A big part of my 20s. Friday STP will be on repeat all day long...

This is tough. I wish the musicians with drug problems who finally get free of it, would leave the music scene. Retire. Rather than get pulled back in

So sad. One of my favourite Grunge bands out there; Core and Purple were both, cover to cover brilliant albums. Although we are not sure the cause of death, he did face many demons during his life. Addiction sucks. RIP...

I was never a fan but when I was growing up I always remember hearing about the Stone Temple Pilots and hearing their music every now and then. Always sad to hear someone passed so soon. RIP

This blows. He was such a talented front man with uncommonly good vocals considering the genre he was such a part of.

Nirvana, Alice in Chains, and Stone Temple Pilots, all a big part of my youth, have now all lost their lead singers.

    Just a shame...RIP.

    Such a shame - RIP.

A positive memory - years ago I was in Montreal for a gig where STP supported the Chili Peppers. STP - Weiland in particular - was the highlight by far. Amazing live presence.

He was awesome. I have many great memories of the music he made.

Sadly, this video might may show clues as to how he died. This cannot be explained by having a couple drinks and his earpiece falling out. Clearly, he is not all there. This was in April.

Loved STP, very influential band for me in my 20s. The most memorable song for me was Sex Type Thing off their Core CD. First time I saw the vid on MTV it just blew me away. LOVED Velvet Revolver too...really thought Weiland would turn it around then.

    Tragic.

    R.I.P., Mr. Weiland.

Mercy. Woke up to this news, dang.
Core & Purple were in the first 3-5 pages of most of my buddies CD cases in high school (91-96), including mine.
Many a party, many a going-out-car-drive with STP playing.
Ah damn. Good day (I suppose) for an honorary STP FNMT (Friday Night Music Thread).

Great music, great voice. I am 56 years old and STP, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Black Keys got me listening to music again. STP/ Red Hot Chili Peppers one of the best shows I ever went to.

I wasn't the biggest STP fan in the house, that was my brother, but I really liked "Vaseline". Also enjoyed Weiland's time later on in Velvet Revolver with many of the former Guns N' Roses guys; particularly liked "Slither".
