That would be interesting. I’m sure he knows hockey fairly well being a Canadian involved with sports. I’m just curious on how he would deal with the league’s differences in trading and such.

Teams don’t go “all in” to make a run for the playoffs like baseball does.

True, but it's not like they are asking him to come in and be their GM either. I just find the whole thing a little weird to be honest. AA is obviously a strong baseball mind so it would be interesting to see where they stand with him as far as hockey goes.

The article did say advisory role. So I’m a little interested where he’d be advising. He’d prolly be the guy just constantly calling Pitts and asking about Malkin.

Baseball has used advanced stats for yrs, maybe he’ll come in and make heads and tails of stats for certain players they are targeting in drafts/trades.

I doubt he'd do this. I suspect he wants to be a GM in baseball. To me this seems like a step backwards in his career and I'm sure he has lots of suitors in baseball after the year he just had.

I have a feeling where AA's expertise could really come in handy is navigating the whole area of team control from a contract perspective (i.e. how to maximize years of control between RFA and UFA years and whatnot).

I mean really, AA was already doing that kind of thing in a world that didn't have a salary cap, so I could see it paying dividends in a league that really requires good strategic contract management (and if I'm not mistaken, a team with an internal cap?)

This one didn't pass the smell test... specifically the part about the Coyotes spending money on, well, anything.

Based on their history I doubt anyone is sure who is paying for what.

Do the Coyotes just want the bringer of rain to join their club?? The desert needs Donaldson for a little precipitation!!
