Because the real Avalanche aren't playing fantasy hockey. Believe it or not, most of those guys are actually valuable in real life, even if they aren't considered so in fantasy circles.

Yeah, thanks for the props Axe, but I wasn't thinking from a fantasy perspective. The Avs would need a 2nd or 3rd line centre (to replace the departed Duchene and who will play behind MacKinnon) and get that in Holland. Bernier replaces Varly. Phaneuf becomes a dman who isn't counted on to score every night. Lupul and Kapanen become parts of the now and the future for the Avs. You gotta pay to get guys like Duchene, and this would be a hefty payment.
