Default Is now a good time to trade Larkin?

First league in sig, it's a limited keeper (keep 7, 1 has to be a D or G).

    My keepers right now are:

    Crosby
    Kopitar
    Foligno
    Kreider
    Strome
    Toffoli
    Josi

At the moment, Larkin isn't on that list. But the kid is good and he could be. I don't know if he's this good, but I'm impressed!

Do you think with all these categories he makes the keeper cut? If not, is maybe right now the right time to move him for a high pick? That's my goal this season. Get high picks & upgrade keepers. Maybe trading him is counter-productive to that plan :P

Based on the limited chances I've gotten to watch him and everything I've heard about him I'd have no problem keeping him over the likes of Kreider, especially since you're looking long-term.

When a kid is getting the label of "Detroit's Jonathan Toews" before he turns 20 I'm listening.

Damn bondon, were you just waiting for me to post this? Quickest reply ever lol

Yes that Toews label certainly peaked my interest as well.

I would keep him. For sure, I would not trade him for a pick unless it's a pick who could land you Matthews.

for sure if you can get a 60+ point proven player I'd deal him. His upside isn't too too high.

I'm in dead last and planning to stay that way. I've got a 60% chance of winning the 1st over all pick for next year right now. But I've got a good core group of keepers for a 16 team league so I can probably go for it again next year if I stock pile properly.

That's also true. Instead of the pick maybe I should be looking at a big player upgrade here.

The idea is a good one but make sure you're actually selling high and land a big piece in the deal.

This is not the 1st time you talk about his upside Big Ev. Could you elaborate on your reasoning behind that?

I think anytime you can upgrade keepers in a limited keeper, it's worth considering. If trading Larkin lands you a higher quality player, I'd certainly look at that.

I don't see high-end superstar skill is all I mean. It depends what you think his upside is if you say it's high. He obviously won't be as good as Toews, who is a 73 point player in his career. Plus, he doesn't have a guy like Pat Kane to play with long-term and I am not seeing any elite stars on the Red Wings for long-term. He looks to have the upside of a guy like Bergeron or Kesler if everything goes perfect. So if you could get a 60+ point proven player for him I would trade him but that will be hard to do.

Thanks Big Ev. I just think that Larkin is more dynamic than Bergeron and Kesler but that's me. And the fact that he is a ''safe'' prospect increase his value for me.

To me it seems like he uses the term "upside" as a word to describe probable production. Those are two different things to me. Larkin has just as much upside as any other high end prospect (ppg). As for actual/realistic production, however, I think he has the talent and the team to get to 65-70pts.

As for the OP, I think Larkin could actually replace Foligno as soon as next season. Kreider could be a beast in your format so I would keep him. That said, I think it's safe to trade him if you can get someone with the same upside that's further along in development. Palat maybe? I think Stepan would be good too. Along those lines. Since you're in a limited keeper, a good pick or two would be good for next year as well.

Vas could end up being a keeper for you too.

Yes and you can use this poll's results as proof if anyone doubts you
I can't promise I'll try but I'll try to try.
