Default Yahoo! Received my first ever Negative Reputation

It was for the following comment in the Prospects section:

    Default Re: Kirill Kaprizov
Kaprizov was also Russia's best player at the Ivan Hlinka. He was also drafted 1st overall in the KHL draft. He is currently playing on the top line on his KHL which is very impressive for an 18 year old.

He was also the first russian drafted by the Chuck Fletcher/Brent Flahr era in Minnesota who had made a point up until that time of never drafting russians. The Wild are very high on him.

I am pretty sure it was a retaliation to me giving out negative reputation to people who were not discussing hockey in another thread but it gave me a good chuckle nonetheless.

Likely to show how childish people on forums can be.

Let's let everyone at home know what happened.....

So two members get in an argument while in a thread. Chuck, who neither started nor contributed to the thread in any manner, comes along and dishes out negative rep with the message "Completely pointless post." Chuck, are you a moderator? Is it your job to come around and judge what others are posting? What is your interest in injecting yourself in something that has NOTHING to do with you? I have seen so many arguments, pissing contests, and generally useless, ignorant comments and the thought of Negative Repping them has never crossed my mind.

I agree that Rep is silly and insignificant. Along with Rep Power, post count means very little too.

    We should abolish it then.
I think it's more childish to post about the received neg rep.

A forum is "a place, meeting, or medium where ideas and views on a particular issue can be exchanged". Why can't it be discussed here if the OP so chooses? There's no rule saying you have to read it or engage in all tens of thousands of threads that are posted. Just leave it be.

Perhaps it serves as symbolism to whats going on on the Dobber forums these days - so much negativity that it's ruining people's experiences. I know it's sure put a damper on mine.

Speaking of negativity, let's ease up folks.
Rep doesn't matter. Neither does the little trivial annoyances we seem to find in each other.

Be nice, be constructive. People don't have to agree with you, and the fact they don't agree doesn't make them an enemy.
Discussions and arguments are not the same, try for the former.

Never Dished negative rep. I'm of the belief that if I don't approve of what you say, I'll challenge that verbally. If that doesn't work, I'll just let it be... perhaps with a sarcastic emoji lol . I don't really see the value of negative rep. Either it's positive and deserved (which can be a tool for those reading the forum and specifically reading comments on posts that they started... but how much value... well that is left to the individual reader) or it's not deserved and not issued.

Why bother having Negative rep? Serves nothing but create hard feelings IMO. I've received it a couple times... meh... whatever. but I can see where others may take offense to it. I'm just here to experience as much as I can about Hockey (Fantasy and real) plus enjoy the brotherhood and improve my Fantasy knowledge and play.

Oh well. back to hockey threads.

Like you said....A forum is "a place, meeting, or medium where ideas and views on a particular issue can be exchanged". Why can't I express my opinion on the matter instead of leaving it be?

So your "view on a particular issue" is that others shouldn't express their views? Quite a bit of value added to any conversation, I must say.

    Never said others shouldn't express.

I asked why he felt the need to post this.
And then I said I think it's more childish posting that he received neg rep than actually giving neg rep.

YOU were the one who told me to "leave it be" but also said a forum is "a place, meeting, or medium where ideas and views on a particular issue can be exchanged".

Which one? Leave it be or exchange ideas?
