odds and probability are different in the way they are expressed - probability would say a coin flip is a 1/2 chance of coming up heads whereas odds would say 1:1 ratio heads vs tails. So the probability of red in any given spin is 48.6/100 and the odds of red are 48.6 : 51.4. It's not a very significant distinction in the sense we were using it in this conversation.

Again though, i agree it is moot. You should not look be looking at hockey players' performances as if they are coin flips or roulette spins because it's obviously a lot more complicated than that.

Do any of Stone's comparables have the same takeaway stats as him? I see that as a major strength of his game.

he did 64 last season, 65 seems like it wouldn't even be very hard for him to pull off at this rate

Some announcer said he’s playing like Peter Forsberg. Hard nose and finesse combined. The play linked prior here was pretty.

That announcer couldn't have watched Peter Forsberg play in his prime because Stone doesn't play anything like Forsberg. Forsberg was a force, skating, hitting, dogged determination AND mad skills. I really like Stone's game, but he's nowhere near as fast or tough as Forsberg was.

You guys are all clinically insane. How many players even reach 70 in a season!? He's a 60-65 pt forward who slightly overachieved and probably had what will be one of his better years during an insane streak where the Senators went on a tear. I don't think he will be a flash in the pan, like Hammond will be imo, but he'll be a solid forward who will be in the 60 pt range. Everyone thinks every damn player will score 70+ pts. Get real.

That's really just because a lot of players have that upside until proven otherwise; which would be when they are over the hill during the course of their career.

The list of players that could hit 70pts is large, while the list of players that do is small; so we speculate on the likelihood of those that could. If you don't think Stone could hit 70 one day, then you haven't been following/watching him.

If you say a player is a 65 point player, is it really a stretch to say he could score 70? Its 5 extra points.

    70+ is a little different than just 70 imo. I think he's a 60 pt player.

you say he overachieved last year, but then you say he's a 60-65 point player. So how exactly did he overachieve?

Anyway there's no way last year will be his best. The best is yet to come.
