Default Does Couturier have break out potential?

    Talking just Points only:

It looks like Couturier is now cemented his spot as the #2 center in Philly between Schenn and Simmons. Can living between these two have him becoming a 50+ point player? I know he's supposed to be a shut down type player, but can this line take some of the heat of G and Jake?

If he sticks as a #2 center, sure he does but I doubt that will last long. Who's pegged in at the #3 center spot in Philly ? Laughton.. Lecavalier?

I hope not. I traded him this off season for Tyson Barrie. I waited and waited for him to go to the next level, but got tired, and needed a decent defenseman. Poof, off he went, and I hope it doesn't come back to haunt me too much.

I did the same thing, but settled for Myers.

I'm really hoping they drafted Konecny for that 2C role in a couple years.

I wouldn't think so. Philly sucks and even if he was the right player, it doesnt seem like the right situation either for a breakout.

If you're hoping for 50, sure why not. It's entirely plausible he could hit that this year. I'm not sure he has the upside for much more than that though (this year).

Maybe he'll flirt with 60 just like Bergeron in the future. He's still so young!

Its completely possible. He showed scoring talent in juniors and if Hakstol eases up on his defensive starts it could be a big help. Remember, last year one of his regular line mates was struggling through a high ankle sprain and the other was struggling with being Umberger.

Bottom line, he still has potential and he's just too young to write off at this point.

You have nothing to worry about here though. Barrie IS a 50 point player and top PP threat while we're here wondering if Coots can even become a 50 point player at at.

He's one of the guys that are extreamly close to BUST. He's been a decent player but from where he was projected and from his junior numbers we all expected more.

Dobber pegs Couturier at 49 points. So 50 doesn't seem like that much of a strectch. I've read they want him to have a more offensive role, and 2C and PP time would accomplish that.

To say Couturier is almost a bust is silly, unless you are talking about points-only fantasy hockey.
