even though its the sophomore slump blah blah blah im going to go with ekblad, he's something special
Who would you keep and who do you think gets most points this year: Ekblad or McDonagh. Important categories for D are goals and assists (1.5 points each) and +- (+1 for plus -1 for minus).
Thanks

Another vote for Ekblad, on a young up and coming team where he's the key offensive asset on the back end.

McDonaugh is a very good real life dman, but Ekblad is something special, and I would choose him over the Ranger.

Not to throw possible rain on this parade, but in the past 30 years the only defenseman to tally 39+ points in each of his first two seasons, with both those seasons occurring before he turned 21, was Bryan Berard. Yes - I realize a lot of that is due to d-men not being rushed, but that's still pretty eye opening.
I think this is an easy pick to go with Ekblad. McDonough had a great year last season, but he didn't have much competition for his spot, especially on the PP. This year he's going to be battling for (or has already lost that spot) to Yandle. I think this has a big impact and drops McDonoughs value.

Ekblad has the higher fantasy value of the two in both my leagues IMO.
Ekblad for me here as well

I will go against the grain and say McDonagh based on the +/- stat factor. Point wise they will be within 5-10 points of each other but +/- is tough to predict and I would put the Rangers at a much safer bet to facilitate that stat. Ekblad could flirt with with a 0

If it's just next year, I'd be concerned about Ekblad. He was spoon fed ideal situations by Florida. If he's going to become the stud dman they need, then they're going to have to start playing him in more defensive situations and against tougher opponents. His numbers could flatline or even regress for the next couple years as he transitions toward being that franchise guy. Defenders take time. Long-term though, it's Ekblad by miles
I think Yandle cuts into McDonagh's offense again this year.
Give me Ekblad.

Just for this year, I'd go with McD by a hair. Think he might outscore Ekblad by a little and I can see McD's plus/minus being a bit better.
If it's a keeper league, I'm taking Ekblad for the future.
