Is Marchand hated as much in Fantasy as he is in NHL?

I have an abundance of wingers and needed to fill holes at Centre and goalie, I have received some offers but when countering with Brad Marchand as a piece I get the I have no interest in Marchand replies? why no love for this guy?

Dunno, he went undrafted in my 12 team H2H. Doesn't seem like he's elite in any one cateogry I guess

Marchand is not liked by many people outside of Boston.

Sometimes in fantasy, GMs won't touch guys just because they don't like them.

Depending on how deep of a league it is, he’s irrelevant right now. He draws penalties and gets in people’s faces, which isn’t a category in fantasy. If you need PIMs, there are other guys, if you need Hits; there are other guys for that. I don’t like him, so I just look elsewhere for the same results.

Is he hated? Maybe not, but he doesn’t offer enough in selected categories for me to have him on my team. Fantasy is about having fun, and I get who I like on my team because I have more fun cheering for Stamkos and Karlsson, than Crosby and Subban. So if I can find someone who I like that offers me what I’m looking for, I’ll go that route. But if I can get a player I don’t particularly like for cheap I’m all for it.

I think if he took 200+ sog per season you'd see that he'd be valued very differently. He also doesn't accrue any PPP which is something that past multi-cat studs like Hartnell and Clowe in their prime did do.

I think Marchand is undervalued in fantasy TBH.

This is what I do, I just make sure there is only a short list of players that I don't like. Marchand is one of them. Another one is Kesler.

I agree that Marchand is probably undervalued.

As for players that are disliked, I'm don't like Patrick Kane and Ribeiro, but if they slide in a draft I'd probably take them anyway..

Building your fantasy team on the basis of how you feel about players as human beings strikes me as a good way of not winning much.

I'm a Habs fan AND a person who generally dislikes douchebags. Yet I own Marchand in two of four fantasy teams.

He's an average producer across the board, but does not really stand out in any category. He hits some, but not that much. PIMs is probably his best value, but he really does not get THAT much + he is pretty inconsistent from season to season. He gets very few PPP. But his contract is fairly affordable, so he's a good (lower) mid to final round option.

I like winning more than I dislike a hockey player, so I will take anyone on my team if it helps me win..doesn't mean I support what they do, I just play fantasy to win bottom line.

That said, I have Marchand and have tried trading him and he gets 0 value, despite being one of the most consistent 50 point guys out there, who has does pretty much every category except PPP.

Many people don't want players on their team they don't "like" in real hockey.

Gotta try and take emotion out of building a quality fantasy team regardless of what you think of him as the person.
I hate Marchand and won't draft him, so there you go- I go against the rule lol.
But seriously, he has value but it's hard to talk yoursellf into owning him.

last time I checked , there isnt a stat for being a douchey player so Brad still has value in most formats / league sizes.

Same issue that I've seen. Not that I want to trade him, but if an upgrade was there I would consider it. Problem is people don't value him. As others have said, PPP and not a huge shot total hurt his value (could PPP come this year?). He is basically a shoe in for 20-25g 50ish pts 75+pim and he crushes shp (which I agree is a bit of a crapshoot cat). At a pretty reasonable salary, he is pretty severely under valued.

I'm a little Marchand fan. What can I say, he pushes people's buttons and I find that amusing. In fantasy, for me, he does tend to be a little undervalued. I did read something very recently that his elbow surgery didn't quite seem to fix the issue. So not only did he miss a summer's worth of upper body training (I'm assuming he could do cardio), he now is starting the season with a nagging elbow issue that is unlikely to get better as the season wears on. Add in the abrasive style he plays and I'd be trying to sell the guy as well. However, I wouldn't give him away, he's a hard-nosed (see what I did there!?) player that I think will deliver come hell or high water.
