Just curious - what site are you checking to make that assumption?
Most teams carry 23 players: 14F/7D/2G... so you have to see how many players are listed PRO for the Hawks on site you reference.
For example, generalfanager doesn't include Panarin or Pokka... and both may be part of the 14F/7D.

Yes, but that's only counting 20 players on their roster: 13F/5D/2G. (I've gotta harp on the site when they don't even show a 6th D in any team's cap total!!!)
That's not enough.
Every pro team sets up their cap roster to carry a full 23 players so they have options for injuries... most teams carry +2F & +1D... for a total of 14F/7D/2G.

Essentially, that "$2.7m of space" is needed for 1F/2D.
Or... $900k per player.
Likely Panarin, TVR, Pokka.. (or they could carry Svedberg or Schilling as their #7D).

I was looking at war-on-ice... they have 13 F not including Kruger, but they have Tropp instead of Panarin... they also have only 6 D

Great trade for Carolina; would have loved to see him in a Habs jersey though. That was a small price for a guy that can play a top-6 role on a bunch of teams.
