that actually sounds legitimate. decent deal for the leafs, meyer has a chance at developing into a steady player. supposing it happens, the isles must be desperate for some press.

Good lord. A no. 7 D who was waived twice last year and a 4th round pick!? Surely they could do better than that - a better pick, at least. Unless McCabe pretty much said he\'d only accept a trade to the Islanders and no other team, leaving them no choice, this is absolute pittance. And is there really need for Meyer with Frogren around?

Be interesting to see if this does play out, Id rather see McCabe stay in Toronto as a Leaf fan, probably able to produce more.

the Leafs just want to dump his contract - which is weird, he isn\'t even overpaid anymore relative to the newer deals. Spotty defensively, but fantastic on the PP.

I\'m a Leaf fan and is he worth trading his contract, no. But a 4th rounder in return is just garbage.
What hurt him was all those times he was on the ice at the end of a 1 goal lead for the Leafs and screwed up. But that\'s not his thing. Keep him to the PP and stuff like that and he\'ll be just fine.

If he gets traded to the Isles, he\'ll tear it up there. If he stays in T.O. . . not so much.

I\'d rather have Freddy Meyer V instead of IV.

Freddy Meyer looked good with Philly during his rookie year but he\'s been bounced around lately. I think Toronto could have gotten more.

I\'d rather the Leafs take a forward back instead of another D. Maybe a kid like Figren just to screw with Bob Cole.. Finger to Figren back to Frogren....

I hope the Silver Fox got a first in the Tavares derby. Oh, that\'s right, he can get a 4th, he\'s bumping Garth out of the derby. As a guy that occassionally gets a Leafs ticket, what a putrid deal. Love or hate McCabe, he is an NHL defenceman that is handy to have around. They better dump Toskala. He\'s now the #1 enemy in the Tavares chase. Meyers & a 4th... there\'s a chance the Leafs never get a significant minute of playing time in return.

Only if Kovalev, Tanguay & Plekanec get traded to the Isles also. Kaberle was the straw that stirred that drink. McCabe will do decently, but he certainly wont raise Streit to a 50 point player again & he wont put up amazing numbers. Good, not amazing.

If you go back a couple years it was McCabe running the p.p. and defences picked up on that and keyed on him ,freeing up Kaberle.....this deal is a steal for the Isles but probally bad news for Campoli or Hillen owners.
