    Default Prospect draft

ok i know i posted something similar to this the other day but i have to add another name, i just found out that in this league, anyone can be drafted even if they are not drafted by an NHL team yet. So that opens the door for me to take tavaras

do i take Kane, Tavaras, Cherepanov, Little, Esposito. I am looking for the best overall guy, not just the guy that will be up quicker. If i have to wait for Tavaras, its not a problem if hes considered the best of the group

Tavares, this draft was suposively a weak one and Tavares is already being pegged as an all star

I hate having a draft that doesn\'t have a rule in place that states you can only draft a player that has already been drafted by an NHL club, but that\'s besides the point...

If you have a chance to take Tavares, I would recomend taking him over the others you listed.

There are a lot of prospects that get billed as being the \"next one\" and than never live up to the potenital. It\'s so hard to evaluate kids that are only 15 or 16 years old, but I happend to think that Tavares is the real deal.

I never believed that Crosby would ever live up to the hype he got when he was younger until I saw what he did in the Q as a kid. The same goes for Tavares. I thought he was over-hyped until I saw him play with Oshawa this year (thanks Center Ice!). He seems like the real deal and a top talent for sure. He broke Gretzky\'s record for most goals in the O this year (granted it took him a couple of more games), but that says something about his talent. The thing that impressed me most was that even though he palyed against guys that were 2-3 years older than he was he still dominated them and than says a lot at the OHL level.

Tavares seems to be anohter one of those rare talents that only come along every so often. If you\'re pool doesn\'t have a rule in place to prevent you from drafting players that aren\'t in the NHL (or have been signed by an NHL club), I would say go for it and pick Tavares.

16 teams in the league. Every year there is an entry draft and each team can have up to 3 players on their prospect team. If i have prospect that plays more then 5 games, he has to be taken off of that team and brought to the regular roster by the following season.

i currently have 2 players already on my prospect list (backstrom and rask, my 3rd who was no longer a prospect and is on my roster was statsny) and so i can add just one more. Some teams have 3 open spots so they can take 3 guys. I had the option of releasing my 2 guys but i thought that would be unwise

You have been drafting pretty good!

I was just asking because in most prospect drafts, people tend to forget about future draft years...and if you had more than one pick, you could\'ve picked Kane first then Tavares...but seeing you only have one...stick with Tavares.

I was drafting 14th out of 16 teams during my prospect draft, so by the time my turn came, all the decent 2007 picks were taken...I decided to grab Stamkos from 2008 (Tavares had been taken the year before)...

Why wasnt Tavares taken last year

Take him and sit on him for a few years. He\'s worth the wait.

If you can pick Tavares, and he\'s available, jump oh him and covet him like you would your neighbours wife if he was married to (insert hottie here). Look at Tavares\' numbers they\'re not far off from a kid named Sidney who was pretty highly thought of, not sure what happened to him. And yes he\'s \'09 draft, the NHL basically came out and said they wouldnt let him enter early, showing balls the OHL didnt have.
