For the Nashville Predators team in my sig, we just completed our inaugural draft. Wouldn't mind a little feedback on my team, if anyone is up to it. I went for a young team that can hopefully compete for a playoff spot, but most likely not win it all. I drafted 7th overall.

C: Seguin, Johansen, Zibanejad, Lindholm, Backlund
LW: Palat, Skinner, Teravainen, Pouliot
RW: Nichushkin, Yakupov, Niederreiter, Jagr
D: Klingberg, Pouliot, Boyle, Beaulieu, Connauton, Smith, Wideman

I also have 5 minors spots available and 1 bench spot. I figured it would be a good idea to grab some additional assets, so I went and looked at who was available. If there's a top 5 in here somewhere that would be worth adding to my team, let me know!

Nice young team to build on in the coming years. Jagr sticks out like a sore thumb, and I would be looking to trade him later in the year to a contender who needs the points to secure a win or two in exchange for a good young gun or a couple Hugh picks.

Haha yeah I got caught up in the prospect rush and next thing I knew I needed a RW, and pickings were slim.

Definitely plan on shipping him out at some point this year.

I like it. Most of your team is close to the early prime years so you should have a good start at being a consistent challenger.

I'm not familiar with all those prospects, though Kase was ranked the 30th skater by Pronman pre-draft so he's worth a shot and Markstrom certainly is too.

Nice forward core for sure, looks a bit thin on D, may want to look for a solid prospect or 2 to round that out going forward when you move Jagr or anyone else.

In the available players I would add Markstrom for sure, Hellberg I would nab as well.

Your forwards look good, but your D is pretty hurting imo. But I do like the depth of your minor league D.

As for your additional picks, I would go goalie heavy. Goalie prospects are often a crap shoot so may as well stock up. From your list I would take Wotherspoon for D and then grab 4 goalies: Nilsson, Ullmark, Markstrom and Wedgewood. There are a couple sleepers as well who may be out there that I would look at as well: L. Soderstrom (NYI) and E. Cowley (FLA)

Thanks for the input so far, everyone. My plan going in was to draft a solid, young forward core that would set me up to compete in a couple years and pick up a coupe high upside D men and just use filler for the rest.

When it comes time to compete I think my prospect pool will help me find the pieces I need to win.

It's a nice young team but I can't see you competing anytime soon. I'm in a 16-team league and my team has a good mix of solid youth and star players in their prime and I don't win it every year (see sig.) so I can't see how this edition would beat teams that have top veterans this season or the next. In the long run though, these guys should pan out very well IMO.

Also, I like the fact that you secured the Duck's current tandem; that will help you for sure now and beyond! Any way you can land Gibson though?

I was hoping to get him in the draft but he went too early so I grabbed Hellebuyck instead.

The guy clearly values Gibson so I might need to over pay a bit to get him.

If I can manage to add all of those G prospects I might be able to afford to acquire him.
