    Default Malkin or Stamkos

For league in sig, Malkin or Stamkos, and how big is the gap for you.

Malkin is "big 3", may play w Kessel, more likely to take faceoffs. $9.5M the rest of his life.
Stamkos is younger, more goals, cheaper this year but could get PAID. $5.5M this year, UFA after.

That's a tough one, Stamkos will get paid, and it will eclipse Geno's deal.

With your cats I like Geno on a per game basis, but Stamkos doesn't get injured like Malkin does.

Eh tight one, but if you can sub into the IR every now and then give me Geno

Even with Malkin's injury history, I'm worried about the Triplets affecting Stamkos' production long-term. His deal will also be bigger than Geno's. I'd take Malkin.

I still like Stammer. He has fewer injuries, scores as many points, hits more, and has more miles in the treads than Malkin does.
Malkin's salary is the only thing I like better about him.

Give me Stamkos, he's so much more durable and a lock for 40 goals. He should get back to the ppg pace and with Malkin's injuries it should give him more points.

I don't really get the point about Makin taking more face-offs. First of all it's not true and even if it was, Malkin can't win them. He's around 42% which is brutal.

Full disclosure, this is for the league in signature. Both players are C/RW eligible; categories are G, A, P, PPP, PIM, SOG, Hit, BLK, FW. This is a full dynasty keeper league; Stamkos 5.5M salary this year, probably 10+ after this season; Malkin 9.5M until 2021 or something. I am the Stamkos owner, and I am asking for a substantial PLUS with Malkin if I'm even thinking about making this deal. Don't get me wrong, I love Malkin. But the injury concerns, and the fact that he's 29 years old (Stamkos is 25) really worry me. Plus, I'd be giving up major cap flexibility in what should be a championship run season. Both teams are "win now" clubs.

Everyone was so down on Malkin until Phil came along, and now everything has changed. With Stamkos, he's coming off a 43-goal season in what was a very "down" season for him. Having an elite playmaker on his line (instead of marginal talents like Killorn/Callahan) should do wonders for his production, and once Jonathan Drouin is ready for full time LW1 duties, Stamkos should return to his previous glory. The age, the premium on goal-scoring, the cap flexibility, and Stamkos' near perfect health compared to Malkin are all too much for me to consider a 1-for-1 type of deal. The only thing about the success of the "Triplets" that concerns me is the lack of quality linemates available to Stamkos, and that is partially covered up by what should be the emergence of Drouin (as stated above).

Cheers. And good luck to you, Yeti.

Stamkos is about to get paid big money. 10M plus. As soon as next summer when that deal kicks in Malkin will be much better in terms of cap value.

I would still take Stammer personally. Malkin has disappointed me one too many times with his wooden leg.

I second this... Burn me once, I'll let it slide... Burn me twice, shame on you... Burn me three+ times, shame on me!

Malkin is still elite, but Stamkos is as well. Give me the guy who hits his potential, even if his salary is higher down the road as opposed to the guy who MAY hit his potential down the road...

Everything is relative... if Stamkos gets 10+ Mil. it's because he will produce like 10+ Mil

I agree that it will be tough for him to put up ppg+ numbers when the triplets are clearly the #1 line in TB right now. MSL really helped him out when he was hitting 90+ pts.

It will be a tough pill to swallow if he makes 11mil but his production stays around 70pts.

Geno's injuries suck but you know he's a top 3 skater when he's playing. I'll take Geno @ 9.5mil but of course, if there's a trade involved here, there's definite arguments to be made for either side to get a bit of a sweetener.

Wow not sure I've seen a vote with 30 votes be this close!

Its close but for me I take Malkin. The triplets will eat into Stamkos production....and he has no elite player to play with since St Louis got traded....and since then Stammer has not produced as well.

Malkin albeit has some injuries but his production is elite and should only get better with Kessel there too.
