    Default Hammond vs Anderson

Let's get some chatter on this.. What you guys think the split will be?

Hammond had an uncanny run. To be honest i didn't see too many holes in his play either..

Was it a flash in the pan or will he take it and run?

Well the big question is, can Anderson stay healthy? If he can he will be the starter and should play around 55 games or even more. Hammond should get a shot from time to time, but i don't think he's for real, to be honest, i don't even think he's good enough to be a reliable back-up.

As said above it comes down to if Anderson can stay healthy or not. If so look for him to get the bulk of starts but if not Hammond should do well.

Expect Hammond though at least to get 99% of any b2b starts. I believe he has earned that from last year. As well as other random starts.

I echo some of the thoughts from above... I do not think Hammond is the real deal. I think last year he was playing on adrenaline and surprised everyone. I think he will come back to earth this year and will be the back up and will only play in BTB games or if Anderson gets hurt.

Was the question posed not 'Was it a flash in the pan or will he take it and run?'

I am stating the same thing you did... he will not take it and run.

Barring an Anderson injury..Hammond gets 20 games max and will play just well enough to win one third of those.

It was a fairy tale run that hammond had,but i'm not sold. Anderson is the hands down number 1 and baring injury itll be a 57/25 split...imo matt o'conner will surpast one or both on the depth chart in the near future tho (a year or 2)

This is like saying Price vs Tokarski (with the proven starter going down with an injury and a lesser known goalie comes in and does a remarkable job)... Whatever Hammond did, it takes nothing away from what Anderson did and can still do.

Anderson will command the crease as long as he remains healthy. Hammond, on the other hand, can come in and get a couple of starts in b2b nights or over long stretches but that's about it IMO. Also, I'm thinking Hammond may just be a temporary piece until O'Connor is ready for a backup gig.

What dissapointed me in Hammond last year was his play during the playoffs. It was his first post-season experience, but he was a shadow of himself during that period playing shaky and with little confidence. I'm not saying that these are his true colours, but I'm pretty confident that last year's regular season performance is not to be considered his regular output...

If anyone thinks otherwise they are wrong, and I don't think anyone thinks he or any goalie will do what he did again. He is going to be a serviceable backup who can be good enough to win when Anderson is off. Anderson is the current starter and O'Connor is the long-term starter with Marcus Hogberg also in the mix (they are high on him)

Just as his regular season performance wasn't his realistic self going forward, neither was his playoffs. Somewhere in the middle, but he's an NHL goalie no question.

no, he wasn't and never was going to be. He was never going to surpass Anderson. Goaltending is not a need for the Senators.
