    Default Could Byfuglien, Yandle or Seabrook be traded to Boston?

    Seems that Sweeney isn't done yet.....trade possibility for a D-man or a free agent.....

    I'd say no.
    I think most of Buff, Yandle, Seabrook will all be free agents next summer (IIRC).
    And a team that trades FOR that player should be going after playoffs - which Boston is not.

    I think Boston should consider this as a 1-year re-build.
    Give the kids some ice time.
    He's got to find out how well guys like Reilly Smith & Pastrnak & Connolly do.
    Tank the team for two reasons:
    1. The first season will create the "benchmark season" for Sweeney. If they rack up only 72pts... then it'll be an "improvement" if they get 80pts in 2016-2017.
    2. Give yourself a decent shot at a high draft pick. Especially with the new "lottery for the #1 AND #2 AND #3 pick", it may be an even better year than before to land a top 3 pick.

    Next summer, he can use cap space to simply add a UFA D-man next summer.
    But Boston is not a playoff team with the moves they've made and their age.

    I even think it's possible that they trade Chara IN-season.

    I'm no GM and majority of rumors are nothing more than smoke but if I had to give a 1-5 for each possibility (5 being highly likely)
    Byfuglien = 3
    Yandle = 2
    Seabrook = 0

    My belief is they're trying to get Franson to come in under $4 million a year and Franson is sticking to whatever number he thinks he's worth. They cant possibly want Zidlicky unless he and Chara plan on opening a retirement home in the Boston area in the near future.

    Well I'm glad you corrected that part of my post... rather than attending to the general work I put into the rest of my post's thoughts towards an article you seemed wanting-to-discuss.

    I still think Boston is more than capable of sneaking into playoffs if healthy. I don't think Seabrook, Byfuglien or Yandle get traded now. All UFA'S makes it hard.

    If Clarkson can be traded ANYTHING is possible.

    But out of those 3 I would only say Buff would be the likely candidate, only because WPG blue-line is getting deeeeeep

    Pen had some good nuggets there.

    I think they sign either Franson or Ehrhoff.
    I don't see them making anymore big trade moves this off season.

    As far as I've been reading, the B's are heavily after Franson, but they're apart on years, as opposed to dollars.

    I like Franson, I hesitate to say he's a good fit in Beantown though. With Chara, Seidenberg, and Krug already cemented as the top 3, I'm just not sure Franson fits into a solid pairing with any of that group. Chara/Franson, Seidenberg/Krug maybe, but if that's the case I'd see Franson having a pretty solid dip in PP time. Especially since I see Julien giving the young forwards more of an opportunity on special teams this year.

    Franson would be a key acquisition for the Bruins, who desperately need D help after moving out some of their better players in the past year. If anyone makes sense there, it's Franson. His right handed shot would help replace Hamilton and even Boychuk.
