A sincere thank you to our commissioner for a rapid turn around on this request .... to kick off the next WHL season here is a new twist to the league interviews...with one question to be an open discussion....

1.Tell us about your initial desire to do something like this - becoming our league's "Insider".


Wasn’t too sure if would catch on and be accepted to be honest, but when I came across the idea, I thought it could be a fun adaptation as the league continues to grow & evolve. The support from the league on this random idea to make it into what it is has been outstanding.




2. As an "outsider" to the GM group, is there anything valuable you have gained from this different perspective.


It has been interesting to see the passion each GM brings to the league.




3. What sort of character is the Insider intended to be - and how is it different from, say, a split-off personality of you?


Who says it isn’t a split-personality....? No character intended... other than our league had no current insider and felt this league of committed GMs would be a fun place to try out the idea.




4. What was the last meal out-of-house that you ate?
A burrito. It was good.




5. Tell us something you that interests you about hockey or fantasy hockey that others seem to care much less about?


Interesting question....perhaps the camaraderie it can bring both at the NHL level and from a fantasy league perspective.




6. Name three GMs that you would place in the "Doing it right" camp.


I don’t know enough about GMs personal lives to answer this. Maybe I will need to find some “significant other” sources to answer this....




7. Have you been asked to host the WHL Awards yet? What would you wear? Who would you roast?


Never been asked....assuming this would be over a Zoom call....so would only wear dress shirt & sport jacket....yes that is all. As for roasting, hmm I am confident that I could find a reason to roast everyone.




8. Pick a team to surprise in the standings this year.


Rebels and Monsters are two lower tier teams that could surprise.




9. Is there a trade in the last two years where you've gone "Yeesh - what just happened there!!!"?


Just one!? I shouldn’t say who....don’t want to burn any sources bridges....I would prefer to see the WHL GMs discuss this today after reading this....




10. Do you watch the World Juniors? Any predictions for the Semi Finals and Finals?


Yes, some exceptionally exciting hockey, isn’t it amazing to have hockey back!! Prediction is Russia vs US final. Askarov & Kaliyev/Boldy steal the games for each.






Bonus Question: What NHL hockey player might you identify with - for style of play, mannerisms, or way of look.


That is a most bizarre but intriguing question.... I will say Adam Foote or Jeff Beukeboom.

nice job fellas, Im sure you will get more feedback once the league draft is finished. I am going to guess that the question asked about "GM doing it right" refers to fantasy skills as a GM and not real life skills. Was the Insider having multiple beers with that burrito when he answered these questions?? No question asked or answered dropped any hint as to the identity of the WHLInsider... clever. I will get to the bottom of this yet!! Anyway cheers and good luck against the Cowboys this season, your gonna need it!
