Good job Insider and Burgandy
Very nice interview, Burgundy!
That #24 spot was a super difficult spot to draft... I did not envy you at that spot!
But nice flip of Shattenkirk - indeed, a beaut of a trade!!!

After deciding to sell and rebuild, Cougers GM pounced fast and didn’t waste time selling off almost all older players for younger assets. Moving out Monahan, Benn, Karlsson among others was a clear sign these cats were no longer in compete mode.
Rossi will bring the catnip this team needs as there very few elite prospects in the system, however they have very good prospect depth after the moves adding soon to be regulars York, Lundqvist, Harley, Perunovich, Soderstrom, Kahkonen, Peeke, and future potential in Perrault and Zybeck. Also adding depth to the current forward crop with Foegele and Johnsson.
The team isn’t ready to compete this year with the current roster, but adding a top lottery pick next year, and possibly another the following year should propel this rebuild rapidly.

The Spitfires have built an impressive group of young NHL & prospects during a fairly rapid re build. Moving out Binnington + Giroux recently for two first round picks was slick, and adding those two picks picks to the already owned second overall pick, allowed to come away with Byfield + Perfetti from this draft. In previous off season the GM did a similar deal moving out Byfuglien for a first that they selected Krebs.
Add those future stars to a stable that already includes Robert Thomas, Zadina, Jarvis, Kupari, Krebs, Patrick, Howden, and Frost....that’s a quality group being assembled.
I expect they will add another high lottery pick this year, plus the Spitfires already own an additional first round pick next year, then sit back and watch this team begin to take off up the standings.
Current vets Pavelski and Danault have reportedly requested a trade, which will only further expedite this rebuild with more youth coming in.

Top ten insights about this team....
1. Outside of Dubois and Meier, this team is yearning for more fantasy valued NHL forwards.
2. Sergachev is a known valuable piece that is still young with another level yet reached, while Keith is still in a good spot to continue to produce for fantasy rosters for the near future. The young D corps could be one the best in the WHL if the prospects reach their ceiling.
3. Two reliable yet aging goalies as a placeholder until Askarov is ready.
4. Prospect roster has several top echelon potential prospects. Zegras, Newhook, Bouchard, Byram, Boqvist, Quinn, plus an elite goalie prospect in Askarov. In addition to those, there are a few more prospects that are good bets to become valuable fantasy pieces.
5. With two first rounders next year, including their own high lottery pick, another key cog can be expected to be added to their talent pool.
6. Moving out Suzuki for Newhook + 1st should pay off in the long run, especially if that Moose 1st slides near a top 10-12 pick.
7. With many of this teams top prospects under 20....this could still be a multi year wait until becoming an annual contender in the WHL.
8. With only 3 entry picks next year....this rebuilding team has pressure to find a way to acquire more picks, or the pressure will shift to hit on all 3 picks to further the rebuild process.
9. Without many older players left to trade, this will be much of a wait and see approach to the rebuild as the fans watch the junior players develop into pros.
10. Project 1-2 more years in tier 4 before we see a steady climb up the standings.
