    Default Jonathan Marchessault

He's been a nearly point-per-game guy in the AHL with both the Whale and the Crunch - he was also getting starts over Drouin in the playoffs last year.

I find him intriguing, but he's undersized, and the Lightning have no lack of talented young forwards.

He's cheap though and the Lightning have some cap issues going forward.

Could he be a late round steal, or is he the classic "Career AHLer"?

Yeah I've been keeping tabs on him for a few years since he's been so dominant in the minors.

I do think he's a career AAAA tweener - but with the shift towards teams having 3 scoring lines and speed, he might indeed find a lineup spot in TB or elsewhere. Even then though, I just don't think he'll be really relevant outside of deeper leagues.

Full disclosure though, I felt the same way about Parenteau and he proved me quite wrong (at least for a couple of years there).

I see him more as a depth player in the NHL. Good for deep leagues. I just don't think he'll ever get a fair chance to make it on a scoring line.

    NECRO'D!!!!!!!!!

So I did a forum search for Jonathan Marchessault, and my old thread was one of the most recent threads on the topic.

My trade (Giroux for Galchenyuk and Huberdeau) left me with an open roster spot, which I filled by claiming Marchessault.

Have opinions changed? Matured? He's like a bad penny on Tampa - every time they throw another obstacle in his way, he manages to both get back into the lineup, and to produce.

Did I waste my (only) Free Agent Pickup this season? Or are we feeling the Marchessault love?

I was until the Tampa Bay coach decided to scratch him for two consecutive games. I don't know why they've kept him on such a tight leash, he's been having some decent production at the NHL level this year.

Tampa Bay has had a lot of questionable decisions recently, now that I mention it..

Really weird that he goes from getting PP time and scoring to getting scratched. I don't watch TB often (almost never) but this had me wondering.

Thats because all their regulars are back. Most of his run came while Palat and Johnson were out I am assuming.

Not sure if you guys have heard but Marchessault isn't the only notable forward struggling to get into their lineup these days.

Palat and Johnson have been OK this year but nothing to write home about. I almost feel like they should earn their spots back rather than automatically taking them from Marchessault.
