I can see some logic to this, kinda, but Rutherford's original tweet is to the effect that he "would not rule it out", which is not the same as saying that this is actually on anybody's mind (other than his own).

I think it would be more likely that they move someone else to make room.

I remember reading somewhere earlier this week that Edmonton was poking around for him. Like most rumours, I take them with a grain of salt, but I do remember reading that.

Then again, I also remember reading something around Yakupov and TJ Oshie too. Who knows. Right now, Chiarelli seems to be making some solid moves and I am sure he's not quite done tinkering just yet. He doesn't seem to be the type who would be afraid to move one of the kids in a blockbuster.

If there is no source and it’s just a “lets have some fun, what do you guys think about the Blues and Shattenkirk”, a bit more meat and potatoes in the post would be handy for us. If it’s a hypothetical situation, I 100% think the Blues need to trade ONE of their D. They have a lot of talent tied up in players who are battling each other for ice time. Piet and Shatts can prolly both play 28minutes a game I bet, but both are eating at each other’s minutes with Bouw there getting the scraps. They should entertain the idea of shipping out a D, but not Shatts or Piet. They have 4 other d where you don’t need that level of talent not being utilized.
