Sure he could be waived/demoted, but it makes more sense for Khudobin to spend the year in the mix with Freddy Andersen and let Gibson dominate the AHL. Not much of a salary dump with the Canes dumping Khudobin's $2.25M cap hit and taking on Lack's $1.15M. Oh, sorry, you mean ANA dumping the Wiz's $5.5M cap hit...but that doesn't mean the Ducks can't use the presence of Khudobin to their developmental advantage. Just my $.02

There's nothing that says Freddy Andersen isn't the odd man out here. I am not saying its going to happen this off-season but it's certainly a possibility.

and who's to say the ducks keep khudobin - afterall , its only early in the offseason .
a few teams still need quality back ups .
Teams would certainly take Khudobin if ANA retained some salary. Or they waive him and once injuries hit they trade him for a pick.

I never liked how they gave Gibson the golden spoon in Anaheim. Andersen showed he was better at this time, but not to say Gibson will be better. Andersen is young, and can start in goal obviously. If I was a team going for a goalie, I’d go for Andersen over Gibson honestly. I’d be curious what Andersen’s price would be, but I think Buffalo could have gotten Andersen for roughly the same price as Lehner.
I hope Gibson fizzles out, just because how much time Anaheim is investing in him, and giving him a larger leash than he deserves.

Wow... hundreds of Poolies everywhere are screaming expletives at you!
But I do take exception to the "Giving him a larger leash than he deserves" comment. Are you suggesting that Gibson has been a "Bust" in anyway shape or form? Seems to me that he's played pretty damn well when he's been healthy. Can't fault the kid for getting hurt, especially when his play last year (on the heels of the impressive playoff run the year before) suggests that he is NHL ready.
But yeah... Hope he fizzles out? LOL ... just thinking about the last place guy in our league that traded RNH, Couture and a 2nd round pick for Gibson and Vermette! meh he he he...
His play suggests he’s NHL ready, I just think Ana just wasn’t giving Andersen the leash he deserved.
I will say he is a good goalie, I just don’t like how the team (BRUCE!) has dealt with Andersen. Gibson has not been a bust. I just hope that if they get rid of Andersen (will happen) Gibson turns out not to be what Ana was expecting and Andersen shines on the new team.
