It certainly sounds like Arizona is leaning towards trading the No. 3 overall pick. Multiple teams interested, incl CBJ, WPG and perhaps BOS

This would be something. Hard to see it working without a couple more moving parts. It's not that the Coyotes don't have the space to sign Hamilton but he's going to be asking for a lot, which isn't good considering their situation.

I know they are near the floor but my assumption is that if Boston could get Hamilton signed for $6M per they'd have done so already. Could be asking closer to $8M. Anything in the $7M neighbourhood seems totally worth it but still a risk for a team in Arizona's situation because I'm assuming they have some sort of internal cap.
It also isn't a perfect fit as they have no means to a franchise center except through the draft and they are supposed to be loaded with young D talent. I'd still probably do it if I was Arizona because Hamilton is awesome and a bird in the hand is better than two in the bush but it's scary.

It would be tough to trade for Hamilton not knowing what he is looking for a contract, anything over $7m on a long-term deal is still pretty tough to swallow for a guy coming off his ELC.

edmonton would have to add. draisaitl is definitely not worth hamilton, and im sure most people would take 3rd overall over him too. marner/strome/hanifin would likely be ranked over draisaitl had they been in the same draft year, and draisaitl has done nothing special in his extra year of development to warrant him being more valuable.

As a leaf fan I like this. Makes Strome available at the 4 slot. As a Leaf fan tho, I don’t like how they aren’t in the talks for the 3rd overall.
