    Default Keepers and trade chips

    Hey all,

I went into the playoffs ranked first, lost a heartbreaker in the semis to the eventual winner on the third decimal place of the save %, but what a thrilling H2H week that was!

Now its that time of the year to reset and to think about my keepers for next year, and what I could possibly shed to upgrade a position.

I was fortunate enough to pick up some gold along the way this season and now have some decisions to make.

    League is in the sig.

In my mind the locks are:
    Malkin (C/RW)
    Ovechkin
    Hall
    Subban
    Letang
    Rask

Ideally I shift my wing eligible centers to the wing (to maximize FOW)

So I potentially have 2C, 1 LW and 1 Wild (I typically keep a G due to our league stats) for the rest.

    I'm leaning towards keeping
    Palat, Little, Brassard and Schneider

I guess the first question is would you keep anyone else over them?
Dubinsky (I'm really torn on him, that multi catted studdness...)
Spezza (Is he nothing more then an aging 2nd line center now?)
    Barkov (Bank on the upside)
Klingberg (Is Letang worth the risk?)
Dubynk (Half a season of godliness over Schneider?)

And the second question is could I package one of my "questionable" keepers along with the non keepers to upgrade to a top player? What needs do you see? Where should I focus? (Obviously difficult without knowing the other teams in the league I know) In my mind a top flight face off taking center might fit the bill.

    All help is appreciated!!!

    Thanks

I agree with all your keepers but Brassard. He's a 50 point guy who had a career year. Not worth keeping him. I'd keep Barkov instead.

Klingberg is another option for that last keeper spot, i just don't like to keep too many d.

Whoever is left try to pack him with Dubnyk (after he signed) and just take the best return you can get

Your post is hard to read. There is so much info in your post is has become muddled and unclear. What are you really trying to ask? I really do want to help/answer/test my own brain.

    Schneider is a must-keep.

After that I would keep Palat, Little, and Klingberg.

You're right to worry about Letang's health - not enough to drop Letang, but enough to hang onto Klingberg as an insurance policy.

You should try to shop Letang around to upgrade up-front, since you have lots of younger and healthier options in D.

    Sorry bout that Moses,

I guess what I'm asking is:
Am I on point with my keeper selections? If not who would I keep?
If the keepers are solid, of the remainder what could I package together to trade?
What area should I target to upgrade in a trade?

I can see the logic for keeping barkov! Thanks!

I would only be able to keep 2D (assuming I keep 2 goalies) So it'd either be Subban + Klingberg or Subban + Letang.

Unfortunately I can only keep 2D unless I keep only 1 Goalie, sounds like moving letang might be the safest bet......... Just hard to let the potential of a healthy season go :P

    Thanks guys!

So keep Subban and Letang and Barkov instead of Brassard.

I don't think that trading Letang is a good idea. It didn't really look good for him and there were even rumors that he might have to quit playing hockey. Therefore his value will be even lower than it usually is. Wait until he played the first 20 games, he could easily have 15 points then and should give you a much better return. Don't sell low if you don't have to.

Use Klingberg and Dubnyk and try to get a proper no1 center.

    Yes. That is definitely crazy.

    Don't keep Dubnyk over Rask.

Yeah, you can't mess around with Rask at this point. His value has certainly dipped, but he's still got crazy upside and it's not like the Bruins are going to be the worst team in the NHL or anything like that. You basically have to take a "wait and see" approach with Rask at this point, and if you're set on moving him wait for a hot streak. Simple as that, anything else and you'd be selling low given the recent shenanigans in Beantown.

Sorry for ressurecting an old thread, I've been kicking the tires from the RNH owner and i'm considering offering either dubnyk or schneider for him.

With the thought that my centers need to be shored up, would RNH (who conceinveably will now be a 2C with McDavid in town) for either dubby or schneider be a worthwhile swap? and ideally should I move schneider? or Dubby?
