Completed McDavid or Eichel trades

I traded Nyquist + Justin Williams + Matheson for Elias Lindholm and the pick that became Eichel. This was probably a year ago.

Pietrangelo, Eberle, S. Bennett, 2015 1st Rounder (3rd Overall), and 2016 First Rounder

I paid a good amount but I did not have to give up any of my superstars. I will miss Bennett though...

I made two moves, one that involved McDavid (out) and one that involved Eichel (in) - different leagues.

In the first, a 24-team points only keeper, I moved:

Jacob Trouba
4th overall
1st '16 (mid)
2nd '16 (mid to high)

for

2nd overall (Eichel)

In my 18-team points only keeper, I did this back in January. At the time, the team I had just taken over this season (gutted) was in last place, and as such I was guaranteed 40% odds on McDavid and for sure Eichel.

My 1st round pick (ended up being McDavid)
Two late picks in '16
Sam Gagner (for a roster requirement)

for

Taylor Hall
Thomas Hertl
1st '15 - (12-16th)
2nd '15
and, the proviso that if my pick became #1 (which it did), I would also get 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th round picks in '16

If I had been guaranteed McDavid at this point, it might have not happened. But since I was only guaranteed Eichel and a 40% shot at McD, Hall, Hertl and the picks seemed like a good move for a rebuilder. I've since shuffled a lot of picks around (including that 12-16th pick) and now have 6th, 10th and 15th overall, plus three 1sts in '16 (and I'll still be the odds-on favorite for #1 in '16).

Not sure if I would still do it today or not, but you guys wanted to see 'em, so I don't mind sharing. Sped up the rebuild, in any case.

Based on the makeup of your team and it being a 6 team league...production of Bennett's level will be easier to replace whereas production of McDavid's value will still be coveted and may put you over the edge for making a few runs at a championship. McDavid, Ovi, Perry, Sequin, Kane is one hell of a 5 forward core to go with the depth you have. You also have some really good defensive depth in your minors. Might be worth exploring a move to cash out on one of your main team's defenseman (Faulk, Markov, etc.) to retool the forward prospect list.

I'm in one keeper, and the same guy as both 1st and 2nd overall picks. He aquired the 2nd at last years' draft and got really lucky.

I could see him move Eichel, but as he's ending his rebuild, I don't see that happening.

I really like the premise of this thread, and I am glad to hear what people are actually willing to pay for these guys.

I wish everyone would read the first post to understand that it's not for trades made a year ago, or trades made for just the chance at McDavid, it's for trades with both parties aware that they are trading away AND trading for McDavid. There are tons of other threads already started to brag about beating the odds and crazy trades done without knowing for sure what you were getting.

The asking price vs what people are paying is very intriguing.

Well, I made my trade in February but the bottom two teams were set in stone by that point (only reason I went ahead and make the deals). It was absolutely am Eichel+ for McDavid trade.

That might depend on the composition of the other team. If they are relying on McDavid being their saving grace and bringing championships year after year, then no that won't be enough. I like Gibson and Kuznetsov, but they are still relatively unproven, but with great upside. I was offered Kuznetsov and #9 overall for Eichel and said no.

Thanks for the insight! Trouba and Jones are the two who are generating the most interest from my team.

If I was going to trade McDavid there is absolutely zero chance it would be for a prospect package. There are some seriously weak returns in this thread.
