Yeah, Dobber touched on this in the Ramblings.
He mentioned an interesting twist where another team could buy him out and give up a prospect or pick.
Not sure where he ends up.
Best kept secret? Where's he going?

On the open market, I could see Anaheim being all over Mike Richards!!
Zorro says "vote for Dobber"
Angus is my best friend at dobberhockey..
This guy is pretty much irrelevant in my books... he's not even worth the "intangibles" anymore
What's mind blowing is that he's only 30.
Oh, I am sure he will land in Toronto. They like retreads like Richards when they have already worn through the rubber.
Bottleneckers (12/16 in 2022)

Top 9F, 4D & 1G . Keep 15, Max 23

D: Bouchard, McAvoy, Morrissey, Heiskanen
G: Vasilevskiy
Could be like when NSH sent Lombardi + Franson to the Leafs for Lebda just to dump the contract. I'd give up someone like Forbort, Weal or even Nick Shore to clear this guy off my books.

richards + toffoli for phaneuf
The Kings wanting to trade Richards is not big news.... I'm sure they would love to trade him. In fact, if someone would take him for free, I am sure they would do that.
A deal will have nothing to do with getting Richards. It will be the prospect they get with him.

One of my very first posts on this site, was to ask if I should trade Mike Richards straight across for a young up and coming defenseman named Drew Doughty. The overwhelming response was that I should hang onto Richards. Thankfully, I didn't listen to this horrible advice and ended up making the trade anyway!

If the Kings pick up half of Richard's salary, he could still be a solid bottom-6 forward for a young team needing veteran presence. $2.875M is nothing these days, considering Boyd Gordon is making $3M. But even then, the Kings are not going to get anything for Richards, so they would just get rid of him while still paying 50% of his salary.
Two personal fantasy hockey related things for me:
1. Mike Richards was my fave player for a long-long time (post Tkachuk). Just within the last year I decided that if he wasn't on an NHL roster I could actually be allowed to drop him from my "fave players".
2. I'm still hanging on to Mike Richards in my salary cap dynasty for the sheer hope that he's traded and bought out and can re-sign at a low actual salary that justifies me putting him on my NHL team... 'cause I sure ain't playin' him at $6m PER!
