I can’t see this as news. It’s an event with every GM (or all but 2) in the same building talking about what the price is of a top star that’s obviously on the block. Everyone has talked about what the price would be between us, the GMs obviously have asked about it. They wouldn’t be doing their jobs if they didn’t inquire on Kessel.

I wouldn’t want ROR “money” attitude honestly. If Kessel and Gardiner would be the ones leaving, they free up about 7mill with the deal I’m guessing. Added space means ROR sees it as his. Not what I would want to deal with. His talent and work ethic I like, his pay-me-now attitude I don’t, not something I’d like to deal with as a GM

The Islanders make sense to me - they have a need for an impact RW and are in win-now mode with the move to Brooklyn, while the Leafs need to re-build with young talent and a new core.

Would strap them for cash next year, but is an interesting thought. Would need some salary relief otherwise they won't be able to afford a back-up goalie, Anders Lee, Brock Nelson, and another player or two.

I am going against my original thoughts.
I'm completely sold on Kessel being traded to the Islanders.
No idea for what exact package. It makes a shit-ton of sense for a deal to happen I think.
Isles would have to put together some kind of pacakge - and they have a very good group of younsters for the Leafs to rebuild with, which is their intent.
Strome, Dal Colle, Reinhart, Pulock, Ho-Sang, Lee, Nelson, picks etc.
And what better way to kick off your new environment in Barclays than with the Tavares + Kessel show.
But the problem here is that the Isles are NOT on Kessel's list of approved teams to make a trade.....for now anyway...

As far as i know there will be a new list in 2 weeks and Kessel can also be traded to any team not on the list as long as he agrees.

Wow just heard a doozy on the radio today. Kessel to Flames for Bennett, Hiller & 1st rdr(15th overall)
Guess if it were true(one can dream) it would hinge on Reimer being moved.
