Hmm, interesting thought. Wouldn't it be something to see him in Anaheim's top six.
There is growing speculation that the New York Rangers may seek to trade leading scorer Rick Nash this off-season.
With the cap expected to rise about north of $71M, and the Rangers being $9.5M from the cap ceiling, they may view Nash's $7.9M cap hit the next three seasons too burdensome. Forwards Derek Stepan, Carl Hagelin, JT Miller, and Jesper Fast are all RFA's come July 1st, and with Nash's mere eight goals and 24 points over the past two postseasons, the 30 year old may be ripe for being dealt. His full No-Movement Clause becomes a Modified Trade Clause come July 1st, giving the Rangers 10-12 teams to work with. Some may include Washington, Anaheim, Edmonton, and Florida as they each have at least $16.7M in cap space.

Nash needs to be traded to a small-market team where he can score regular season goals to his heart's content without having to deal with playoff pressure.
Carolina, Arizona, Buffalo, Florida all fit the bill.
I could see Buffalo or Washington acquiring Nash. Cannot see him going to Edmonton.
Backstrom, Ovi, Nash. WOW.
I heard this on Wednesdays pre-game or intermission on NBC’s broadcast too. I heard it and was like, “Woah, no way would they trade him” then thought about it, they need post-season offense, and the cap space. He’s the most logical to go if they can move him. You gotta feel for him, seems like he does everything right, but is just snake bitten in the playoffs.

80% of Nash’s goals were in front of the net. His size and strength would be great on their 1st line PP. He can go in front of the net and shift to the high slot for a shot just like what Ward and Chimera did for the Caps. He might not line up on the top line in Washington, but he’d be a great 2nd line LW. Nash’s two way game is underrated, and Trotz would make him a very strong player I think. He’d be used on their PK too obviously.
And with Anaheim, I think it would be the same as Washington after thinking about it for a bit. 2nd line with Kesler, 1st line PP with Getz, Perry, Nash, Kesler, and Point man. Which would be such an imposing top 2 lines. BIg would just get bigger

If you're the Rangers, do you trade him to Wash? Unless they blew away all other offers, I'd send him out west.

I'd be pretty surprised if they move them, then again they do like to make a splash. With MSL leaving town I gotta think they've got a decent amount of room to keep Nash, although if he is dealt I agree its going to be to a West team.

Nash had 7 points in the Rangers last 4 playoff games....just saying.
I would be very surprised if the Rangers moved him. The cap is an issue I guess, but overall he's been great in New York...he's had two of his best seasons since joining the team.
