Default Oilers approached Anaheim for Gibson....

The Edmonton Oilers have reportedly approached the Anaheim Ducks about the availability of John Gibson.
Gibson is still young and he has a great future ahead of him, but he did serve as Anaheim’s backup goaltender behind Frederik Andersen this season. Despite not playing a ton of games this year, it’s incredibly unlikely that the Ducks would be willing to part ways with Gibson. The 21-year-old had a 13-8 record with a 2.60 goals-against-average and a .914 save percentage in 23 games this season.

They have the right idea but Gibson isn't going anywhere.

They seem actively seeking for a G since they also approached Ottawa for Lehner and NY Rangers for Talbot....

Maybe Anaheim will try "the switch" and get the Oilers to take Freddy Andersen? Still an upgrade on what the Oil has in net. The Ducks would definitely be in the market for a replacement as Gibson hasn't proven himself capable of carrying the full load...yet.

Definitely. I like Lack and think he'd be just fine in Oil Country.

I like the idea of going after someone a bit more low profile, and I have faith in Lack's game, but for the oilers, considering their experiences with goaltending and with the positive feel this offseason has brought, I really feel they need to find an option with a bit more of a proven track record.

Why wouldn't you call and check in? You're trying to change the franchise and obviously Scrivvle ain't getting it done. San Jose has checked in on Lehner and Talbot as well, exactly why I picked up Talbot earlier today with my one open roster spot.

When you mentioned "the switch" I thought you were turning to Bryzgalov.

Can we ship Miller's $6mil ass to the Oilers instead of Lack?

I think Lack would be a solid addition to Edmonton.

After the old regime wouldn't deal Schneider to Edmonton at the draft a couple years ago, I wonder how receptive the current management team would be about dealing a possible starter to a division rival.

    Same for Anaheim re: Gibson.

I dunno, as much as Lack would be a good fit, gotta think the price for Edmonton to get him would be much higher, teams don't like trading in their own conference let alone in their own division

They have an obvious hole in net, they’re just feeling out everyones price for their goalie. With Neimi as a FA, I think they just want to see if it’s better to trade or sign a goalie.

I'd be fine seeing Lack go (use Miller until Markstrom/Demko are ready).
Not sure if the Nucks would trade in the division though.

It's a new GM, but the Oilers tried hard for Schneider and offered more than NJ if I remember correctly -- but no dice then.

Gotta get something good if you're gonna move him there though.
