Intriguing interview with Sergei Kostitsyn from a Belorus newspaper.
- It seems he ran into Radulov while vacationed in Turkey this summer and spent some time with him. He says that at the time - some time in JUne - Radulov told him he wanted to leave the NHL for Russia and that he had an offer from Ufa.
- Radulov didn\'t tell him why he decided to leave the NHL but he (Kostitsyn) thinks it was the money (though he says nothing to suggest that this is more than Kostitsyn\'s own guess).
- Asked to put himself in Radulov\'s shoes, Kostitsyn says he would have done the opposite. To quote: \"leave the strongest league in the world? No thanks, I don\'t want to\". He says later \'I don\'t even want to talk about a return to Europe in the next few years\'. He also notes he\'s had no offers from the KHL.
- Kostitsyn doesn\'t believe the KHL can become as good or better than the NHL in the short term, and says it is too early to assess their long term potential.
- Says: I don\'t weigh contract offers strictly by how many zeros they have; i\'m still young and there\'s time for that.
Comment - it is unclear to me if he means \'I have lots of time to make money over my career\' or \'In the future the money will matter more when I weight contracts\'.
- Says that AK Bars, rumored interested in brother Andrei, never actually called Andrei.
Comment - that doesn\'t mean they didn\'t call Andrei\'s agent, of course ...
Asked how he feels about the fact that despite his very good season he will have to continue playing for the same kind of money without being able to renegotiate his contract, while the KHL could offer him at least double what he\'s making now, he responds: \'I\'ll live, there\'s time for everything\'.
