Dude just won an Art Ross trophy... I'd leave the hip just the way it is!

Hell... I'd take a crowbar to Seguin's hip too, then maybe they'll both top 100 next season.

Tough as nails. Could have easily packed it in a month ago and had surgery then, but pushed through till the end of the season. However, this puts him on track to rehab and take it easy all summer and be “ready” for pre-season. How in shape will he really be? I’m not saying he’ll be Phil Kessel or Big Buff, but I can’t see him being the same Benn at first.

He will most likely be fine to start but then taper off as the season goes on due to no conditioning in the summer

I was thinking the opposite lol. Like his explosion, agility, or shot suffer from hip stiffness. But conditioning would definitely be a concern, it’s not like it’s a shoulder injury where he can still hit the treadmill or bike in the off-season.

I wonder when the hip injury occurred/should have put him on the IR

Geez...4-5 months of recovery, and he is a 25-year old Art Ross trophy winner who is in excellent shape.

I'm awaiting hip surgery myself, and may require hip replacement unless I can find a surgeon in my area willing to repair the damage. Most surgeons in my area just want to replace the hip given my age (40). Seems crazy to think that I'm already "too old" to have the hip repaired. If it will take Benn 4-5 months to recover, I guess I will out for a year at least.

They're pretty much always ahead of schedule - I'm sure teams throw on another 2-4 weeks of extra projected recovery time on major injuries as a psychological thing to make the players feel more confident as they heal "faster".

Still, good to hear there are no setbacks.
