Yes, the Nick Foles-and-change for Sam Bradford deal looks odd on its surface for the Eagles.

And yes, there’s a certain quarterback coming out of Oregon which Eagles coach Chip Kelly is familiar with.

“Let’s dispel that right now,” Kelly said of the Mariota talk, via Geoff Mosher of CSNPhilly.com.

Kelly said he thought Mariota was the best quarterback available in this year’s draft (take that Jameis Winston), but that he wasn’t going to mortgage the future of his team by trading multiple draft picks to get to the top few picks.

Kelly also said he was offered a first-round pick for Bradford this morning, a sign that someone else likes the oft-injured quarterback he traded a cheap starter and a second-round pick for.

I suppose he could be bluffing, but...

Not for nothing, but if I am a Geno Smith owner (dynasty, of course) I am concerned with -among a myriad of other issues - the Jets recent acquisition of Ryan Fitzpatrick. Remember Chan Gailey is the OC over there now, and he'd love a Fitz-Spiller reunion.

Nope. Bradford is Chip's guy. I listened to the full press conference with Chip - said he watched every single one of Sam Bradford's throws in the NFL before the trade was made. Also had his injuries reviewed by multiple doctors. Bottom line: Chip believes Bradford is a better fit for the Eagles. Mentioned his accuracy and intelligence.

Also, according to reports - even with Mathews, the Eagles are "heavily involved" with DeMarco Murray, who was Bradford's roomie in college.

Teams would make room. They’d make the Bonuses so easy to achieve for him.

Bradford did run like a 4.70 in his 40yrd dash (Draft yr tho). Bradford is good, but HEALTH argh! But ya I saw the article where Chip said he wouldn’t mortgage the future of multiple 1^st round picks on Mariota or whatever. They do have Sanchez that proved he could at least keep up to the offense last yr, which makes the bold decision of getting Bradford a little easier.

That is such a great landing spot for AJ. Also will provide a mentor for Moncrief and TY. With the new acquisitions the Colts seem really solid on offense (how's their OL?). Now they can switch focus to their defense.

Interesting that there's still no update on this (that I've seen/heard anyhow). Although it's also reported that Ryan Mathews hasn't actually signed his contract with the Eagles yet.
