Nah. Directly related to this topic and I wasn't looking for 30 different opinions. One was fine and I got my answer. Case closed - no need for 8 Dubnyk threads.

Dubnyk confirmed as the starter tonight vs Buffalo, anybody thinking about putting him in your lineup tonight? Remember, no Suter for the Wild tonight.

That's actually a good thing. Suter is -21 in his last 15 or so games.

Why not start him against one of the worst/lowest-scoring teams in the league? The Wild were embarrassed last game and if they don't respond this game then there is something seriously wrong with the team (which I must admit is a possibility)
I can't promise I'll try but I'll try to try.

I am not surprised. They didnt go get him to let him sit on the bench. Get in there, stop the puck. Pretty simple.

A definite start, I grabbed him off the wire and was starting him over Lehtonen vs. Jets (Lehtonen turns out to not be starting).

Anyways, if you went thru the effort to acquire him then you better be starting him against the Sabres. I mean, if you can't start him against the Sabres who can you start him against?

with the Sabres Corsi shot diff in the neighborhood of -800, it should be simple. as a new owner of Dubs I say inflate that trade value!

I'm especially annoyed about this whole Dubnyk thing because I late-drafted Niklas Backstrom (MIN) in several leagues this year... thinking he could return to being a starter on a good team.
    Wrong about starter.
    Wrong about good team.

He's been crap, but when Kuemper went down...
Pengwin be like "Hey, if I grab John Curry... I'll at least have the MIN goalie start vs. BUF and then ARI."

    Fail.

Woo hoo, sure glad I had a quick trigger finger and then started him over Mike Smith (I sense a theme building here) vs. Calgary tonight!

I'm wondering if now is the time to pan him off. An easy upcoming schedule will inflate his value and then sell, sell, sell????? Years of mediocrity on bad teams makes it hard to judge him, but I'm not sold on him.

I was a believer in the Wild to start off the season, I'm still shocked at how low they are in the standings.

An "elite" top 6 by name, very serviceable depth (a la Zccker, Haula, El Nino) and even a solid 4th line/PKers in Fontaine, Brodziak, and the like.
A stud Dman in Suter, a very responsible Brodin, up&coming Spurgeon, the break out of Scandella.

Other than an anemic PP (that's Yeo's fault, or whoever coordinates that), this team might be the rare instance of how goal tending really is/was the crux.

Yesterday's 7-0 rout of the Sabres by no means is a definitive projection of what games in the future will be like, but Dubnyk has at least managed to provide average goaltending for very terrible teams in the past. That, in addition with a lot of bouts with the fairly weak Albertan teams + Canucks in the upcoming schedule, should yield some good results for both Dubnyk and the Wild moving forward.
