**** sleeping on it... I just put in the claim haha. Dropping Boyle instead of Tartar sauce.

I wouldn't mind if someone above me on the priority list puts in a claim, in which case I'll maintain priority over my rivals and Ryan will go to a non-contender.

ughhh you got talked into it by homers...his career high is 71, and that was playing on perhaps the best offensive line in the NHL, but Tatar is on pace for what? 60? You really think Ryan is going to beat that by enough to make this worthwhile? I don't think so, I would have saved the priority

EDIT- oops, I see you dropped Boyle instead, that's not a bad move

even if it was tatar, it's all about buying low and selling high. tatar is unlikely to continue his run

It's the 4 straight 30 goal seasons before turning 25 years old which stick out to me.

i meant his recent production - since November 1 he has 18 points in 18 games.

But let's say for argument's sake he finishes with 60 (doubtful) and Ryan finishes with 60. Tatar would get 40 more points and Ryan would get 43 more. I agree he should be kept.

Nothing's final for another 30 hours, I can always rescind the claim tomorrow.

The more I think about it, the more I like the move though. 60 point players aren't that easy to find in a 14 team league. Won't be a home run, but if I can get him it'll be a solid depth addition with a small chance at upside.

If I had #1-3 priority then I would hold onto it, but #6 isn't going to get me anything special over the next 3 months.

This is around the time of the year big names are dropping. Eric Staals name has come up a few times, Peitrangelo was dropped 30days ago in my league, Sharp and OEL were dropped in a few, and Elliot could be dropped soon. It’s the impatient owners that drop these injured guys that think 3 bad weeks is going to absolutely bury them in the standings. In a H2H, one week can give you 24pts (12cats). With claim 6 and 1-5 being lower teams (assuming) they’ll prolly snag him up before you do.

I’d try it out and drop Tatar.

It's still pretty early in the season and I'm comfortable with my forwards.

Should I give up my waiver position to take Ryan and hope he turns it around, or is Ryan going to have a mediocre 55-60 point year (in which case I'd rather sit on my wire position).
    Don't do it.

I agree with some of the other posters that he's better than Tatar, but I don't think it's worth using your waiver priority.

**** Bobby Ryan. Every year someone drafts him for his perceived ceiling, and he puts up a mediocre stat line by season's end. I would way rather be flipping different free agents who are hot than relying on a guy who's upside really isn't even that good. He had two 60+ seasons, and in both those years he shared the ice with Perry, Getzlaf, and Selanne. Not a coincidence.

There are going to be long stretches where he seems invisible and you'll be committed at that point. Let someone else grab him. Maybe he'll even clear waivers.

I'd be more worried about the fact the he's barely shooting at a pace that would lead to 200 shots. It doesn't exactly happen often where a guy shoots sub 220 and scores 30. And that's been a consistent issue running on four seasons now...

I wouldn't be seeing him as a superstar. He's a sniper who is capable of hitting 35 in a good year, 28-33 in an average year and 23-26 in a low year. He's a 55/60 point winger. That's all.

We're talking about a one-year league in which there is no difference between goals and assists. So it doesn't matter i he scored 30 or not.

pretty sure nobody in this thread is saying he's more than a 60 point guy. But yes his upside is more.

I'm on the fence here. He's not the best guy I'd like to spend my waiver pick on, but you're right, it's only #6 and he is a nice depth add over a guy like Boyle, so I'd probably make the move. Chances are someone ahead of you will jump on him instead, so you're probably safe either way.

Sadly Ev, some people just don't seem to have the ability to grasp the concept of "upside"". Too tough I guess.
