New keeper league on YAHOO
Ground Rules
1. It’s free with 12 teams
2. 4 centers, 4 left wingers, 4 right winger, 6 defense and 2 goalies with 5 bench spots. Up to 20 players retained
3. Roto scoring
4. Yahoo default rules with special exception for penalty minutes
5. Winner gets a “you suck” cheer and “I got you next year” at the end of the season from everyone else(in some form)
6. End of the year owners can suggest rule changes
7. There is a regular team and a development team that comes only from the Rookie draft- max of 10 players on the development team.
8. After the each season it will be voted if it will become a money league and if so how much and payouts, ect.
Drafting
1. First draft order is picked out of a hat- snakes 1-12 12-1 ect. From then on it is NHL style with 12-1 each round.
2. First draft is live with following ones through email/league board unless owners are all available
3. Other drafts year to year are 4 rounds.
4. Draft pick trading is fine except first draft
5. If a team’s roster is full when they draft a player, one player must be dropped from their roster. That player is then in the draft pool for anyone to choose. There is a “pass”.
6. Only 10 free agent moves per year. Unless injury emergency is called and someone cant field a starting line up
7. In the event that an entire season is wiped out due to a strike or a lockout, the draft will proceed as usual. The draft order will be the same as the summer before, and picks that have been traded will remain traded.
8. There are 2 drafts per year
A. Free agent draft: all players in the free agent pool- 3 rounds
B. Rookie draft: all player who haven’t played an NHL game- no underage players- 3 rounds
9. For first overall picks in each draft bottom 6 teams are put into a hat. Last place gets 6 balls, 2nd last get 5, and so on.
Free agent market
1. There will be a 2 day waiver period in which people can notice a players availability. With worst team to best team getting first “dibs” on the players
Trading
1. Any assets may be traded at anytime during the year. Assets are players, and draft picks. 2 for 1 trades, 3 for 1 trades, 3 for 2 trades, etc are all legal.
2. Unlimited trading with the deadline being midnight the day after the NHL trading deadline.
3. Players traded during the regular season DO NOT bring their points with them.
4. “Buddy” trades will not be accepted. If anyone believes that a trade is FAR too lopsided, they may lodge a complaint with me. If that complaint is seconded, a vote will take place. A vote of 75% or greater will be sufficient to nullify the trade. THE COMPLAINT MUST BE LODGED WITHIN 48 HOURS OF THE TRADE. Owners win deals and lose deals - it happens. Sometimes owners lose deals badly. This rule is in place only for extreme situations. It is to prevent two friends from stacking one of the teams and splitting the prize money. It is also to prevent an owner who is planning on quitting the pool at season’s end from helping someone out by giving them a “deal”.
Other
1. Option of adding expansion teams and if so you can protect any 12 players of your liking and then the new owner chooses 1 player from each team, and with added with drafts(last pick) he/she will have the required amount of players and the rest can be picked up
2. *IMPORTANT: Return all phone calls and all emails within 48 hours if possible. Even for offers that seem stupid, at least give owners the courtesy of a two-minute phone call or email. Nobody likes waiting for answers, and it may affect other deals they are considering which are time sensitive. If the offer requires further thought, email the person with a brief note: “I’ll think about this for the next ## days and get back to you”. If hitting “reply” and typing that sentence is too time consuming, then join a Toronto Star pool where you just have to check boxes once per year.
3. Only players that are in their Calder year, haven’t played in the NHL, or over in Europe are able to be on the development team
4.When a player retires the team owner get a pick in the rookie draft after the 3rd round unless player had more than 55pts in which case it is after the 2nd round and above 65 is a 1st rounder
5.Once a player leave the development system he is promoted to the big team or put into the free agent market
Playoffs *not NHL just fantasy playoffs
1. When league playoffs roll around all rosters are frozen from any transaction.
2. Top 4 teams advance with 1 vs. 4 and 2 vs.3
Awards- nothing real handed out unless money given to get the award. Feel free to buy it yourself if you win one.

I would consider joining. Have been playing for 15 years in a keeper league. Weekly head-to-head. Points only. Trade whatever you like (players/picks). 3LW, 3C, 3RW, 4D, 2G and everything else you like underneath. Free movement back & forth at all times. Eg. Pittsburgh plays one game this week, you might sit your Gonchar. Cap is $85.05 this year. Shoot me an email.
