Default Selanne and Niedermayer trades

Anyone has made trades with these \"half-retired\" players ?

If so, what was the deal?

I actually own both. In our pool, you can waive retired players after the draft (in Sept.). In a way, I might take the risk and trade one to get a draft pick.

I own Niedermayer in one of my leagues... I might try and dish him...

If I don\'t though, our league requires leaving some players unprotected before the draft, I think I\'ll let him fly to the wind if he hasn\'t decided to stay by that point.

I have gonchar and phaneuf that I can keep, so it won\'t \"decimate\" my defensive core, but obviously I\'d prefer that he would stay.

I also own Niedermayer in my keeper league and we must declare our keepers before our draft so hopefully he will decide before than. If not, I guess I\'ll take the risk and hold onto him. My defensive core will take a big hit as my other keeper defenceman are MA.Bergeron/Rafalski/Corvo.

I personally don\'t wanna trade him as I will probably not even get half or a quarter of his original trade value. I would rather take the risk than get a mid-level pick or a average player (that is what i believe i would get for him). If he does stay, I would just try to trade him away to a team that is in contention of winning mid-season for almost his original value.

I have Selanne and tried to make a deal a month ago to no avail...but I think since I havent heard anything that it is good news. I think he will come back and score 90 again. I wouldnt deal him now as his value is crappy unless u could get something of value in return.

    Ouch!

It\'s nice you can waive them if they retire but after the draft?
Not sure how many you can keep but If they both ended up being \"dead wood\" that would hurt my team.

Even though I think their value is really low right now and there might not be any takers - I\'d move them if you could.

I think it was Mike Golic of the Mike & Mike radio show that noted \"once a professional athlete considers retirement - he might as well do it because he\'s never the same player after\"

Loki, our 26 players protected list was due at the end of May. That was the time were both these players were \"thinking\" to retire. So, I protected them.

Now with the Ducks signing Bertuzzi and Schneider, might as well call them the \"replacements\".

Our draft is at the beginning of September, and afterwards we can waive any retired or \"going to Europe\" players.

For selanne , I\'m sure that he will play at least an extra season! And because his value cannot be lower than now. So If you are a believer...that the PERFECT time....

but nideedermayer I\'m not sure at all....

I just pulled off a trade for Niedermayar yesterday.

I gave up A. Kostitsyn (who I would have to drop before the beginning of the season to make the numbers work anyways) and a conditional draft pick. The condition: If Niedermayer plays one NHL game in October 2007 he gets my first round pick. If not he gets no pick. Draft picks aren’t worth much in our league as we keep almost all of our players. My draft pick is worth even less since I will win my pool this year so it will be last in the first round (how is that for confidence).

I am guessing that Niedermayer retires but if he doesn’t I got the steal of the decade. The other owner tried to shop Niedermayer and he only got 2 other GMs interested and mine was the best offer (I can\'t imagine how bad the other offers were). If I were him I wouldn\'t have done it but he decided to try to get something rather then nothing.

Traded Selanne in the following deal.

LW Zach Parise, RW Teemu Selanne & G Marc-Andre Fleury for LW Wojtek Wolski, RW Marian Hossa & 3rd RD Draft Pick after protection lists posted.

    Would you do:

    Elias and Selanne

    for

    Bergeron

Salary Cap is involved but I am pretty sure I can work things out in that regard.

Well I wouldn\'t trade elias straight up for Bergeron so that should answer the question.

Even without selanne\'s \"situation\" that deal is extremely lopsided. Elias is much better than bergeron (I am assuming you mean Patrice because if its MA then it is even worse of a deal) and you want to throw in Selanne who if he stays a year makes this trade a huge loss.
