I was wondering if we have any day/weekly traders in here?

im talking about stock traders
I used to be, but I'm a passive investor now. I don't think so much of myself to believe that I can consistently beat the index over time when the data shows that even the professionals don't.
I think it's something I would love and get completely addicted to, but for the same reason as fhg above, I resist it.
I've dabble in it sometimes. Not so much in the last couple months.

If you can't beat the index then why trade instead of just owning the index? The research shows that hedge funds, which have access to every strategy out there (shorts, options, derivatives, etc) underperformed just owning the index over a long time line. You might beat it in the short term, but over time you'll erode the gain with losses.
Shorting?
I was thinking fantasy trades. Zero trades in the Dobber Experts League so far...
