Defencemen worth at draft auction...

We have an draft auction in order to acquire new players.

My dilemma is I am trying to determine whether to drop both Pitkanen and Bouwmeester in an attempt to draft them at a cheaper cost...

To give you an idea of market value in our league, here is a list of defensemen and what they went for at last year\'s auction:

Lidstrom - $3.00
Pronger - $2.75
Zubov - $2.30
Timonen - $2.20
Hamrlik - $1.80
Blake - $1.75
Ohlund - $1.65
Campbell $1.65
Boucher - $1.50
Ernhoff - $1.35
Beauchemin - $1.25
Duncan Keith - $1.00
Jovocop - $0.95
Murphy - $0.90
Corvo - $0.85
Burns - $0.60
Spacek - $0.45
Barker - $0.40
M.Green - $0.35
Enstrom - $0.25

Now using this as a scale, what do you predict that Pitkanen and Bouwmeester each go for at this year\'s auction...

Scoring categories for defensemen are: Goals, Assists, +/-, and PIM

btw, technically my league is a keeper league but the bidding seems to go like it would in a one year league as you can see with Green and Enstrom going for so cheap.

Somewhere around $1.80 or a little more would be my guess.

Edit: nah check that - a range of $1.65 to $1.85

Yup for each - heck someone paid 1.75 for Blake and 1.65 for Ohlund last year and $1.35 for Erhoff for heavens sake. If the guys in your league were watching Jbo over the last 3 months of the season I can\'t imagine him going really low.

I could see spending that much if Pity and JBo were perennial 45-50 point dmen...but they\'re not (yet). That being said...maybe I underestimated....1.25 each

Oh BigD I didn\'t say I would pay that much - just my prediction based on last year, where their auction price is likely to be. I think at a $1.25 in Brian\'s league they are a good deal for this year with keeper potential.

Sometimes I\'m not sure whether they bid due to name recognition or what...I though that was way too much for Ohlund, but then Campbell went for $1.60 which is dirt cheap...oh, and Jackman went for $0.90...lol; there is an element of surprise to these auctions.

I have Pitkanen at $1.30 and JBo at $1.70 and I can\'t afford them...hmmm...I might just have to take my chances with some under the radar guys...

Well you need to find someone elses shoulder to cry on because you frigging stole Jovo and Green last year, so I suspect you will pull a rabbit out of the hat somehow. And prehaps BigD is right and JBo comes to you at a better price. I doubt Pitkanen will.

it\'s tough to say. Everyone is in the same boat with the first initial draft but since this is a keeper some people have more wiggle room and may choose to overpay those guys because they have the room.
