    Default Backes - ROS outlook

Backes is a valuable player in my league's format and an FHG projections favourite going into the season due to his mult-cat contributions.

He hasn't been off to the best start but I'm wondering if we should be rethinking our expectations of him, especially with the emergence of the Schwartz-Tarasenko-Lehtera (STL!) line as arguably the team's top line (and top PP??). What do you guys think?

In a multi-cat he will continue to be a stud. He's never been known to be an offensive wizard, I'm sure he'll still be good for another 50ish point season when all is said and done.

Vangregs pretty much said it all. I wouldn't worry about Backes. He'll turn it around. He has been used more defensively early on this year, keeping the Tarasenko line mostly away from the tough matchups. That should change IMO once teams start matching the Tarasenko line better. That should spring Backes and his line to get better opportunities.

Over the whole season Backes will still be the multi-cat stud. Other teams will start keying on Tarasenko line so I wouldn't be too quick to unload unless you get a great offer.

Backes worried me too but I still have faith he will pick up steam and have a solid year.
