Sort of like a receiver thinking about running before the catch, this is thinking of the celebration before crossing the line. Idiot.
Instead of this being a 79-yard TD, it was a 100-yard return TD.

Kind of reminds me of that time I accidently stopped running at the wrong white line in the 4 by 100 relay. Of course, I was 9 years old.
what a moron, how many times does this have to happen before these showboating dumbasses get a clue?
you know you're truly stupid when you're too stupid to play football
I love how the defender who ends up actually scoring on the play never puts the football down.
Umm...he made... a, umm, nice catch...
I wonder how many laps the coach gives him on Monday?
ESPN Recap has some better angles on it.
That video highlights the refs too... who had an eye on it and did not non-chalant throw up the TD arms.

Also - it was the trailing Oregon defender that noted it... slow-approached it... picked it up, then fumbled it himself when another aware Ute was there.
Another Duck actually picked it up with the two engaged and waltzed down the sideline.
This has happened a few times in the NFL too. Although I don't think it's ever been returned for a TD.

Also the context is huge - they would've been up 14-0 but instead it made it 7-7. Against a top 5 team as well so that was a huge momentum change.
Yeah the only positive for him is that he's learning the lesson at the college level rather than in the pros. Can you imagine how a coach like Belichek would react to that? His head would explode (kinda like horrorfan's avatar actually ), the guy wouldn't play another snap all season.
Give the guy a break. Maybe it was his first football game. Maybe he wears bifocal contact lenses and got confused with the line. Okay, maybe he is just dumb.
