I was just offerd N. Mackinnon for my Getzlaf in a keeper league.

Already?
Sounds like the other manager is trying to 'sell high' before (if) Mack slumps again.
I think the max someone can ask for MacKinnon right now is a 2nd round guy. Not a top player. Benn, Kessel, Sharp, Couture type guys.

I go against the grain on this one. In a keeper, I take MacKinnon.
You may lose 10-15 points on that this year (and peripherals), but IMO, Mackinnon's upside is that of a Stamkos - so I take the risk.
This isn't a proven for potential argument for me, as 90% of the time, I take the proven. To me, this is a justifiable exception to that rule.

I wouldn't. Getz is still in his prime and in a league that counts PIM and hits he's golden.
RETIRED
I'd ask for an add on the MacK side. A high draft pick or a decent upgrade on a secondary player. Or, I'd see if there was anyone else he'd consider, other than Getz. And I'd only make this move if you weren't going for a win this year.

I would accept this trade. In fact pre-season I traded Getzlaf + JJohnson + Chara for Mackinnon straight up - there were keeper implications there (I would have had to drop one of JJ or Chara absent the trade), but still I think as difficult as it was I felt getting MacKinnon was worth giving up Getzlaf's great production over the next 5 or so years.
I think MacKinnon will be a 70+ guy this year and then 90+ point guy as soon as next year, and for the next 10+ years. Some would say I'm overhyping him, but I don't think so.
the trade will hurt for this year and maybe even next year, after that it's a big win.
Keep in mind that in a SOG league, MacKinnon will be a 300+ SOG shooter most years. Getzlaf will usually be putting up 200 at best. Although that is somewhat offset by the hits and PIMs, perhaps.

If a team is going for it this year & near future, I'd say Getzlaf... who is good for 80pts AND is quite stealthy in Hits/Blks league.
I'd also expect Getzlaf to have a better +/-.
These things to Getzlaf's favor... MacKinnon would need to put up 90pts to even out the value of those peripherals.
If a team doesn't have a shot to win this year or next... then MacKinnon, yeah, definitely for any rebuild small or big.

Yes, I know the ass-u-me thing, I'm 46.
Tell me, what do the very best pro scouts do when they evaluate talent? They look at all of the facts, tangibles and intangibles, everything about a player, and then they make projections, they speculate, and as part of that they must make assumptions.
Mackinnon is, by all accounts, likely to meet or exceed expectations. I'm not going by my own assessment here, though I do know a bit about evaluating NHL talent, I'm going by statements I've heard and red since he was drafted and after his fantastic rookie season last year, and by watching what he's done at the tender age of 18 and extrapolating. The guy scored at a 117-pt pace in the playoffs last year, against the Wild, a pretty good defensive team, with an all-world shutdown dman in Suter. Am I saying he's going to be a 117 point guy? No. Am I saying that such a performance should open everyone's eyes as to what he is capable of, given that it was in the crucible of playoff competition where even a 0.75PPG line will be very good for players who are ordinarly PPG during the regular season? Hell yes. An Eastern Conference scout very recently went out on a limb and suggested he could be even better than Crosby. That might be crazy talk to most, but it tells you where people are at in evaluating this player. Reports this summer are that everyone who watched him work out marveled at his strength and explosiveness. That's another great sign. I've watched some of the goals he's scored this year, after a slow start, just ridiculously skilled. He isn't even being used on the PP1 unit, and yet he's on pace for 30PPPs.
I am very happy with my trade, this kid will put up 90+ year after year in his prime, long after Getzlaf starts to decline. And for this year, Getzlaf will put up say 85 pts with great PPP numbers, very good Blks, and mediocre SOG numbers, while Mackinnon continues his development and pots 70+ with superb SOG numbers (280+), great PPP numbers, and even, lo and behold, reasonable blks numbers (he is on pace for 50, after registering 45 last year, good for a fwd). Those are my ass-um-ptions and I'm sticking to them. To each his own.
