Question Revised expectations for Kuznetsov this year?

It looks like Kuznetsov is still getting PP2 icetime, but otherwise he is kind of getting a dog's breakfast in terms of linemates and icetime. Thoughts?

What are your options? Who's on waivers?

In a keep 6, I think it might be an okay option. Can't see him being a keeper for you with that roster!

i'm not a kuznetsov owner, but i'm a caps fan who follows the team closely.

obviously if the expectations were big things for kuznetsov this year, then you should re-adjust. trotz is committed to making him learn a new position (center), and seems to prefer pairing ovechkin-backstrom with bigger players that can do dirty work (he's used fehr, brouwer and now ward across from #8).

but it's not like kuznetsov has looked bad during his time on the ice--he's just received abysmal linemates and terrible ice time. they're still finding room for him on PP2 and he's one of the team's three picks for the shoot-out. i think it's just a matter of time before trotz decides to move kuznetsov into a scoring line, and i'm hopeful he'll take off from there. that might not happen until late in this season, though.

Some of my other options are:

    - A. Chiasson
    - S. Downie
    - M. Beleskey
    - D. Smith-Pelley
    - A. Burrows
    - M. Raffl
    - J. Spurgeon
    - D. Hamilton
    - D. Brassard

I can't just drop him and pick someone else up though... I currently have a healthy Visnovsky on my IR. I'd have to drop another player to make an addition. For kicks though, who do you like most out of that group?

If you were to pick someone up, i think it should be a bruiser. Your team is stacked but might be weak on pim if anything.

Downie. Not sure who to drop though. Would have to be Palat.

Edit: or Phaneuf, but he's a PIM guy too.

    Holy hell.

Obvs, you're good at making trades or you wouldn't have that kind of team. I'd try something like a winger and a goalie and try to get a bruiser winger that can score.

Agreed, in a one year league there's no point in waiting on him. What options are on the WW?

Bumping an old thread - finally ready to give up on Kuznetsov.

    Considerations:

    - K. Versteeg (W) - skating with Kane/Toews in Chicago right now, but I doubt that will last
    - B. Jenner (C/W) - top line in CBJ, and dual position eligibility is nice
    - A. Martinez (D) - top PP unit in LA with Voynov gone
    - M. Johansson (C/W) - icetime with Ovechkin is always good, and he's getting lots of PP ice

I still think I like Johansson most. Tanner Pearson is also available on the waiver wire, but I doubt he will slide far enough to get into my hands. It would be nice if he did, as he's getting PP time and the "70's line" still seems to be rolling, despite his offensive slump. I'd like to grab one of the other FA guys though, then make a waiver claim for Pearson.

Johansson is the best of those options in a P-only league; it's too bad you're not in a multi-cat league because Jenner is so underrated in that type of format. Honestly the new Evander Kane.

Yeah, point-wise it looks like Johansson. But boy is Jenner something.
