I\'m considering 3 offers for Thornton.

    The only finalized offer is:

#13 pick in the \'08 draft (mainly \'08 draft picks, deep league so anyone left from the \'07 draft is probably not worth taking here), #43 pick, 2nd Round pick in \'09, and 1st round pick in 2010 and Drayson Bowman. The only thing is the future picks will likely be late in their respective drafts as I think this team will do quite well.

I am re-building, complete house cleaning for all intents and purposes.

In the NHL draft #13 was Colton Teubert, but Boychuk went 14th and Erik Karlsson 15th
#43 in the draft was Justin Schultz, but a guy who I\'ve heard mentioned around here Zac Dalpe was taken shortly after.

    Thoughts?

I don\'t see any reason why you\'d do this deal, I wouldn\'t even consider it.

    Am I missing something?

It\'s not for the team in my sig. I\'m re-buidling and my biggest fear is being half-decent this year and not having a legit shot at Tavares in the 09 draft.

Doesn\'t matter, if it happened, that trade would go down as the worst fantasy trade in history. Probably.

Just say no. You can do much, much, much better. The season doesn\'t even start for three months. A fear of Joe putting up points that hurts your draft position in 09 is irrelevant at this point. and that\'s even assuming that you take that as a legitimate enough concern to justify moving Joe for less then market value.

Tanking smart and tanking dumb are different as you know BigDL - market value in picks for Joe can still get you into the Tavares lottery. Joe is just too good and will be for several years to waste at this point. Late in round picks aren\'t as valuable as Joe is I think, so you might wait it out for now. You\'re a fox - you will find the path I am sure.

\"As for your league, I can tell you that big name big contract players obviously aren\'t easily moved, and that picks are placed at insane values. You already know that though I guess if you\'re rebuilding, stockpile picks by almost any means necessary. Grab young guys who you think other players might undervalue. I don\'t know.\"

This was posted by Lockedge, and it very much lays out the position I am in in the kind of league this is.

Does this change anyones view of the trade I am pondering?

I would keep working and try and get a package that involves fewer quantity picks/prospects but better quality in return. I\'m assuming you can make trades inseason so really you have until mid to late October before thornton is a must-move for you in terms of tanking.

I would think you\'d have to get a better package going from one of the top three teams in your pool.

Trade Joe to who you think is the worst team in your league at the moment and go for both Tavares and Hedman...
But seriously, its a bad deal...I would hold onto JT for the moment...

No much to add but you are not going to find a player like JT on a waiver wire. He\'s quality and you should get quality in return. This is a very bad deal salary cap or not.
