What should I offer for Rinne?

I would like to upgrade my goal-tending from Fleury/Pavelec/Luongo by adding Rinne.

The GM with Rinne has: Rask/Rinne/Anderson(Anaheim)/Howard/Backstrom/Harding (so he's set even if he loses a G)
The GM is hurting at D: Chara/Letang/Martinez/Bieksa/Carle/P.Martin (he wants an upgrade here)
The GMs available forwards to trade are eKane/Eberle (If possible I would like to move eStaal for one of these guys in the deal as eStaal is proven and eberle/kane are not)

His request is that I provide him with 1 elite dman and 1 great dman OR 3 great dmen from my roster. Personally, I would not let go of 3 great players and more look to letting go of 2 great/1 okay.

My Dmen are:
Elite - OEL
Great - Kronwall/Barrie/Phaneuf/Carlson/Enstrom/Maatta
Okay - Faulk/Merrill

What do you think is a fair offer for Rinne..? The GM I am trying to trade with isn't sold on the value from defense in fantasy because they clearly put up less points, but in truth they are just as important in our league (we skate 6d and there are 10 teams).

Your goaltending isn't phenomenal but it's not awful by any means. I definitely wouldn't be giving up OEL to get Rinne. OEL is the cornerstone of your defense and can be for a long time. I'd look to offer two of your great guys. Like Kronwall and Phaneuf, probably won't be enough but he is weak at D. Since that probably won't fly I'd be more than fine adding a forward swap to that and taking a little loss there. I just don't think your goaltending situation is so bad that you need to lose a lot of your back end strength in a 6D forma .

Sounds good to me.. I was thinking the same thing re: balancing a deal with the fwd swap. It just makes sense to fill any lopsided aspect of the deal. I was even thinking of Kronwall/Maatta (I think Maatta will do better than phaneuf this year) and potentially the forward swap if I have to.

I'd tempt him with Kronwall, Faulk and potentially let him drink the Kesler kool-aid while the hype is on. That way he's got an offer he won't refuse. You've got enough in your farm to move forward with this deal.

So the GM wants OEL and Barrie... for Rinne. Problem is that the salaries don't match up... and I don't know if I should offer anything more than that regardless.

What do you think of Kronwall and Barrie as a good counter offer? Another comment said to add kesler but that's a bit much in my opinion...
