Not sure I'd do either, but I'd decline the Hall one for sure.
Benn trade is somewhat intriguing, depending on what you think OV will do.
Hi guys,
Have two different offers for Ovechkin in my keeper league (roster in sig)...would any of you do this?
Jamie Benn + his 1st this year for Ovi and my last rd pick
Or
Taylor Hall and Ryan Miller for Ovi, Holtby, and Jake Allen
The Benn team finished 5th last year and the Hall team finished last.
I finished 2nd.
Not really looking to move Ovi as he's a beast in my format but Hall and Benn are considerably younger and not flight risks.
Thanks for your input!!

Depends on the type of player you'd be able to snag with the 5th overall pick. Is this a redraft after keepers? Or are we talking about a prospect entry draft?
Definitely decline the Hall offer, as Dutch said, but I'd like to know more about the Benn offer. First blush, I'd say stick with OV but it depends who the other guy is. Cheers.

Ovie is a flight risk?
Oh wait. Nope. He's not.
Just so we are all clear:
1) OV is not a flight risk.
2) OV is the best player to own in your format.
3) Benn and Hall are nowhere near comparable value - not with any picks or anything thrown in.
4) The only way you should do the first deal is if that 1st round pick will get you a top-10 player - which it won't.
I'd consider the second deal a little bit, but he'd have to sweeten the deal a lot, since I have holtby/allen way > miller.
Can you post the other guys roster so we can see if there is maybe a Hall ++ for Ovie?!?!

His last correspondence with me on Hall + his first read... "The 1st rd is not going to get moved.
I see hall at the best player amongst the 5 here. Hall is young and can put up numbers for the next 10 yrs easy. Plus edm has the talent now to support him. 100 pts is achievable (not necessarily this yr, but at some point down the line. Don't see OV cracking 85 pts at all, been in the league for 10+ yrs and there's a place called khl.
I'm cautiously optimistic about miller in Vancouver. Van could be very close to making the playoffs or be able to sneak in. Holtby - to me is still very much an uncertainty. Washington could implode like last season at any time.
In the long run, I see hall as a sizable advantage. Can't really add much more..."
Sounds like there's nothing here. Have a good day all!

First, I have to say that Ovi is a beast in your format (w/ SOG, hits and PPP's), so I wouldn't be quick to move him. This somewhat depends on whether or not your in a win now mode or rebuild. But if you're in a win now, I'd be hard pressed to move him.
I definitely wouldn't consider the second offer. I see Miller as a downgrade over Holtby (or equal at best), so Allen would have to come off the table. And even if Allen was taken out of the deal, I still see Hall / Miller for Ovi / Holtby as both a downgrade for both players and giving up the best player in the deal.
The Benn offer could have some legs, but as others have said, it depends what type of player you could draft with the pick coming back to you. It would have to be a a top player in the league for me to consider it.

I'd likely be targeting McDavid (or Eichel?) with my or the aquired 1st...

If you could guarantee getting McDavid I might consider the Benn offer. But that can't be guaranteed, and I wouldn't make the deal if Rick Nash or Kyle Okposo were the best options available.
The second deal is 100% no. Yuck.
Stand pat, keep Ovechkin because he's the best player to own in your league's set up.

Yep. Keep Ovechkin here. Sounds like this dude is living in a fantasy world with 100-point seasons in Taylor Hall's future. Don't get me wrong, I'm a Hall owner in multiple leagues and I firmly believe he's got 90+ seasons in his arsenal (I actually projected 92 this season); however, 100+ is a pipe-dream right now.
Keep OV.

I hate when GMs leave messages saying their players are better than yours and they're the ones losing in the deal. Like really, why the hell are you offering the trade then?
I'd reply with "Miller does nothing for me. He's past his prime and on a shittier team than STL. Me bringing on a older goalie on a team that "may" make the playoffs is a counter productive to my current situation. Holtby is young and has uber potential. Adding Trotz, Orpik and Niskanen is guaranteed to catapult his numbers up the goalie rankings. Allen solidifies your STL tandem which would be a huge by-product of this trade. Those two pieces to this trade are worth FAR more to you than Miller alone. Not to mention the gap between Ovie and Hall. Seeing how this trade would make you pretty much a favourite to win this year, sweeten the deal and I'll consider it...if not, no worries, I like where I'm sitting".
