3.75m/year isn\'t bad at all considering what other D are going for on the UFA market. The Pens really need Orpik\'s presence on the back end to steady the ship. A healthy Eaton will help too. That allows some of the more offensivelly gifted D to ply their trade with a better safety net and some added grit.

I really like this for PIT.

Must admit i like this move a lot too. While he will never be a top scoring dman, Orpik is very dependable and still (IMO) has yet to hit his full potential.

Locking him up for 6 yrs @ that much, should turn out to be a discount in 2-3 yrs.

Great move. Watching the Pens last season, I was surprised at how good Orpik was defensively. Very underrated player who plays similarly to C.Philips.

Yeah I agree, this will look like a bargain in a couple of years.

I thought he\'d get more than this once he hit the open market. Glad the Pens were able to keep him.

Imho he was big, but easily overlooked part of the reason the Pens went to the finals.

It\'s a good deal. Plain and simple. He would have made over 4 on another team.

This guy led all players in the playoffs in hits and he\'s by no means afraid to drop the gloves... He\'s a great guy to have around when you have superstars on your team.

Wonderful signing by Pittsburgh. It\'s good that they didn\'t lose all of their UFA\'s... Dupuis and Orpik were both real good signings...
